Biography
Maroon
She was alone. Where was she? Where were her mom and dad? Why was nobody around? The little pearlcatcher wailed and cried, but to no avail. She sniffles until a sparrowmouse pokes it's head out of the bushes. Maroon inched closer, but was soon snapped at for getting too close. She yelped and she tore away. The creature, however, kept advancing toward her. She was starting to get nervous, and she tripped over a twig, snapping it as she fell backwards and onto her back, still hugging her Pearl. Suddenly, a big brown claw came crashing down onto the sparrowmouse, and it exploded into feathers with a " squeak! " The tundra stared down at the hatchling, a glint of remembrance shining in his eyes.
Maroon looked up at the fluffy brown dragon as she hastily climbed on top of it, assuming he was there to help because he had saved her from the scary thing. Surprised, Gilbert jumped a little. "What are you doing in the middle of the Tangled Wood?? " He squinted to get a better look at her through his glasses. " With light eyes?" The hatchling whimpered in confusion and sadness, for she truly had no idea where she was. The tundra sighed and said. " Aire's gonna freak out when I show you to her.... still, you need shelter. It's getting dark. Plus, you're at risk out here. By the way, my name's Gilbert. " He smiled, and she knew he was to be trusted.
" Cmon kid, let's go home. " The wind rushing in her wings as she clutched her pearl felt amazing, and she squealed in delight. Gilbert laughed as they approached the den, skidding down the cave entrance and diving into the chasms underground. A blue fae looked at her in surprise, along with a sandy scorpion, with clicked its claws. Maroon delicately inched her way to the floor while Gilbert and the fae discussed. Sometimes they both looked at her weirdly. She wasn't sure why.
Eventually, she learned more things, like how to talk, glide ( not fly ), and how to differentiate plants and fruit. Maroon grew up into a beautiful pearlcatcher, boasting a large wingspan able to shoot across the sky whenever she pleased. She currently helps Aire with collecting and gathering, and Gilbert by demonstrating insect flight patterns. She is happy here. She is the apprentice.

The sparrowmouse from her childhood came back one day. Maroon knew it was that sparrowmouse, the image clear in her mind that made her grimace everytime she glanced at one. The bright yellow eyes, the swift and quick flurry of feathers was about to snatch one of Gilbert's prized insects, and tackled it to the ground. Sweet revenge was coming to that little rascal, she knew it- but something inside her stopped her. What would she gain by crushing this simple creature into bits? Satisfaction, she guessed, but something about it didn't feel right to her. Then, the sparrowmouse curled up against her leg and cooed. Maroon sighed. Perhaps she would keep this one around.
