Finders Keepers
If you want to find something-literally anything-in the clan, Terell is the place to go. As the keeper of the horde, he knows where everything the clan owns is located.
But this is not all he does. Most of the clan is unaware of this, but their lair is home to a black market. And Terell is a very important part of this, having been one of the original three members. This clever mirror is wonderfully skilled at finding. As he will tell you if you question his work: "Finders keepers, losers, well, they're probably already dead".
Within the black market, Terell sells valuable, one of a kind artifacts, all of which have amazing histories. He has an incredible knack for finding whatever a customer needs, legal or not.
One day, as Terell was exploring, he found a stunning pair of artifacts. From the moment his eyes set upon them, he knew he would never leave the cave without them. However, as soon as he touched them, a cotal flew at him, sending him sprawling to the ground.
"Leave," she hissed, her voice rough and grainy. "Leave now."
Terell couldn't help but to notice the strange make-up of the dragon before him. She was partially dragon, yes, but partially stone as well. "What are you?" He posed the question in his usual carefree way of speaking, despite the danger that he was currently in.
The cotal growled. "That is not your concern. Leave."
"Yeah...I can't do that." Smirking, Terell shrugged his shoulders. "I need those." He gestured at the pair of statues.
"No."
"Why?"
"Why? I…" She trailed off, thinking. While she was considering this, Terell slipped to the statues and slid them into his bag.
"Well, I'll see you around."
It turned out that he would, much sooner than anticipated. Moments after he returned to the horde, the cotal appeared.
"Hello thief."
A very out of character squawk escaped Terell's lips. "W-w-w-wha-wha-what are you doing here?" He pushed the bag containing the statues behind his back.
Smiling, the cotal stepped forward. "Those items you stole are mine to protect. I can never leave them. However, you may not return them to me. Not both of them. I will take one, and live my life, no longer trapped."
Well, as good of a plan as it seemed, it didn't work. The cotal was granted freedom from her stone form, but could never be very far from either relic. And, since no one would buy a relic that came with a dragon attached, the two are still stuck together.
"You never told me your name." The dragons were sitting down for a meal.
"Fine, but you have to answer a question for me first."
"Righto." Terell grinned. "Ask away."
"How do you get involved with the black market?"
"Oh, that. Mercer asked, I said yes."
She sighed. "Alright. My name is Chopin."
"Really? That's a weird – I mean, that's a cool name."
Terell has never found a mate. It is unclear as to whether this is his choice, or if no dragon will put up with him. But he seems to be quite content as it is.
Once, he asked Chopin why she wouldn't just take her relic back. Her response?
"Finders keepers. And apparently, in your case, also weepers."
