B I O G R A P H Y

What am I doing here? I’m a war vet, not some convict! Have these people no shame, no sense of respect? I fought the war, I risked my life, and when I became too lamed to continue, I dedicated my time to bringing the soldiers the best armour not even the flight’s riches could buy. Now here I am: isolated by adobe and brick.

Why, you ask? Supposedly treason. I wasn’t even told what treasonous act I committed. Perhaps the freedom of speech has been uplifted and I said something someone didn’t like. Perhaps some whelp didn’t know how to put on his armour and marched off to war with helmet in claws instead of on his head, and died as a consequence; his distraught daddy sought revenge. Perhaps I really did do something wrong and now it’s about to claim my head. What then? Do I deserve to die?

I want to live. I have so much left I want to do, so many things I hadn’t done in the past. I’ve learnt from my failures as a character and now I want to right them. Pray, if someone hears me: let me live another day, give me one more chance. I want to live.

As I stare at the stars looming over a molten glow more brilliant than their luminance, I think to myself. I think about the past and the present and the future. I think about the time when my beautiful home surrounded by flora was smoked to ash, and how I was taken away from my family. I deluge myself in nostalgia as I recollect the time when I was promptly held prisoner for some time after. And then I think: how am I gonna get out of here?

I’ve been a prisoner once before and I escaped that fate. I’m not going to sit around and wait for someone else anymore! No one is here to hear my pleas, no one here will believe my story! So, what I have to do is: I have to take matters into my own claws.

I am no convict. I am no sniffling coward facing the delusions of an existentialist crisis. I am a man of strength! I WILL take what I desire! And I desire freedom. It may take an arm or a leg or a chunk out of my wing, but I will get out of here. Just you wait and see.
