[ T H E M E ] "'Peace' doesn't exist for everyone at once." A soft-spoken and timid Wildclaw whose social anxiety greatly interferes with his ability to communicate with others, Eirlys can be a little standoffish and finicky upon first impression. He prefers to keep to himself, using the art of Cyromancy to generate ice formations and frozen precipitation that keeps visitors at bay and allows him to feel safe and secluded in his personal winter wonderland. He means no harm and is actually a very kindhearted person, if you can get past that shy and evasive demeanor... And find him once he hides from you. Eirlys's behavior is, of course, not without it's cause. As a hatchling, his gift was more of a curse - the cold mana that was flowing through his veins frequently crystallizing into dangerous spires and manifesting in drastic changes in temperature. Control of this force was needed for other's safety - because of this, he began his apprenticeship shortly after his hatching and spent very little of his life socializing with other dragons. It didn't help that his mentor, a Gaoler Shadeseeker whom had once single handedly fended of a raid of Shade-fed cultists, had grown into a bitter beast with a cold outlook on all of dragonkind, either. His rambles about the nature of heroism and it's futility only fueled the already timid and flighty Eirlys's fear and disconnection from others. Eirlys learned a lot about The Shade and magic that is typically used to counter it due to his teacher’s history. Knowing and using this kind of magic creates a permenant mark on the user’s mana: a mark the Shade can sense and naturally avoid. Anyone infected with Shade therefore feels an intense inclination to stay away. Though the generally kindhearted nature of Gypsum Tower's tenants and the clans they've befriended have helped Eirlys with his destructively shy nature, the now-archmage still has trouble communicating and does so very rarely, speaking maybe three words at a time when addressed and blushing furiously when doing so. He does, however, make really good home-made ice cream all year round. He often gives it to people who seem down in the dumps without invitation before running away. Though not related by blood, Eirlys calls a Safadel his brother, as they were both raised by Eden when they came to the clan. Eirlys thinks very highly of Safadel and will often run to him when he’s in need of advice. |
