While many of his brothers and sisters had been exalted or left for dead, Garr had struggled to find a home to call his own and to survive in this changing world. Years went by and his hope dwindled like sand in an hourglass until one day he found a Clan deep within the Shadowbinder's realm. Guided by the brambles and trail of glowshrooms, and welcomed with open arms, Garr had finally made it to his soul's home.

Spending a lot of time in camp, Garr learned many things from the diverse dragons who lived there. Sand for upset stomachs, this herb for that ailment, how to render the toughest meat into a tender meal, and even basic alchemy. Armed with this knowledge, Garr decided to test himself in the Coliseum and prove that he could be a valuable member to the Clan or die trying. He very nearly lost his life when he tried to take on a trio in the Mire, but was lucky when a Hunting Party happened to pass by and defeat the enemy before anything worst could occur to Garr.
