Nursery Inhabitant

S T O R Y

When Azura arrived to Hyraeth Vale, she did not know how she got there, nor was she the first to arrive. Upon sight, she felt the need to attend to the hatchlings that were running rampant without owners, and the eggs lain in a nest that had gone cold. She was accepted into Hyraeth Vale, and she couldn't be more happier with where she is.

Although Azura loves children, she can not remember having any herself. Still, she feels a deep loss deep within herself, as if she's lost something very important. Still, underneath that, she can feel a small light glow like a small symbol of hope. She hopes, one day, that she may find it, embrace it, and call it her own once more.

For her loving heart and her tender caress, Vetur dictated that she become the Nursery Inhabitant, the mother of all lost hatchlings and abandoned nests. She occupies the nesting cave and spends her time watching over the young dragons with care and love. She was elected into the Counsel of Five and helps with making decisions towards her clan. She sees herself as an adopted mother to Vessalla, much to the dismay of him and his adopted father, Vetur.

M E M O R Y

There were stars. Stars upon stars upon stars and stars and stars on that night. The sky was pink, too. Pink, like the milkweed that grew along the cliffs by her home, where they all played together. They were all gone; why were they gone?

Water. So much water, flooding up to her ears. She couldn't swim; her wings were wet, how could she fly? Her children - her young boys - they shrieked and flailed in the water, kicking their legs and trying desperately to flap their wings. She couldn't breathe, but neither could they, and she tried fruitlessly to go to them, to help them. Her own daughter screamed at the top of the cliff, calling to her brothers, to her mother. The water rushed and roared - she could barely see the blue scales of her smallest child.

"Run!" Azura yelled. "Fly! Leave! Save yourself, forget about us!" Another wave crashed down upon her, and when she broke surface her littlest girl was still there, shaking with fear and uncertainty. Azura swallowed down her own tearsas she saw her sons start sinking into the dark blue pits that were taking her. "Please, Maia! Please, go!" The tide swarmed and pushed her against the cliff. When she looked up, her daughter was gone, and there was nothing but stars, stars, stars...
