Once known as the Sovereign of the Sands

Sahara was a powerful and domineering ruler of this lair. Although she was not the first ruler, Mikos and Oskeli paved strong leadership foundations for Sahara to lead the rest of the pack. With grace and elegance, her every command was wise and tactful. She wasted not a single drop of her energy on unnecessary things- only the needed were present in her life. However, the future was not within her control. A proud and passionate leader, Sahara was loved by the rest of the dragons in the lair. The Crystalspine Reaches lived prosperously but Sahara was also the target of jealousy for those who did not benefit from her power. Rumoured to be as influential as the Arcanist himself, dragons were divided between whether her existence was heretical or sacred. Her power could lead to her absolute corruption. This kind of power should not be left in the hands of a mere dragon. Sahara did not crack under the pressures of judging eyes, but by now the Arcanist had caught wind of the wicked whispers surrounding a new rising 'heroine'. The other deities feared an uprising or rebellion. You must punish her so that she cannot stand against us. Though the Arcanist did not want to punish an innocent soul just to fuel the hatred of others, simply for being more wise and powerful. |

"Sahara, I have acknowledged your un-ending potential and courage to lead your lair into unexplored glories but the abilities you possess and the overpowering advantage you gift to those you favour would send the peace of Sornieth only deeper into darkness and war. I know it would be unkind to punish you, so instead let me take the dragons you lead under my wing. They would serve directly under me and I would promise them protection and treatment like exalted kings and queens." Sahara knew in the face of the mighty Arcanist, she was unworthy to lift her head, let alone reject his offer. Thus, in order to protect the peace of Sornieth, she abandoned her title of pride. Too powerful to be just a mere dragon, yet to lowly be revered an elemental deity, Sahara was left stuck unwanted between two worlds. Choosing to live in solace with her raw power instead of cheating the world after the 'mercy' it had shown her, she hid alone in her lair, spending her days reminiscing of the power she once held in her grasp. The lair, that was previously filled with the sounds of laughter and cheer, was replaced with only the echoes of silence reverberating on the weak beat of Sahara's tired wings. The crown she wore for so many generations suddenly felt all too heavy for her small head - but she could never give it up. It was filled with so many un-erasable memories. The Arcanist pitied her and left her a familiar. The miniature Sornieth globe would be where Sahara could be a powerful ruler without harming others. Thus, the once almost-godly Sovereign of the Sands continued a humble life alone, dreaming of her glory days with a part of Sornieth by her side. |
