Biography

Alphecca maps Sornieth's ley lines. His travels follow these lines of wild magic through the wilderness to parts unknown; it was such a journey that brought him to the Amber City. He assisted the ley line technician Simberuel in researching the Amber City's font of native magic. During the long years of experiments and research, Alphecca came to care for him dearly. They live together in a college near the Beacon among fellow academics.

Alphecca is pleased as punch that Sornieth's ley lines are surging in power. He has always been able to see paths of magic glimmering around him whenever he closes his eyes, but now they shine brightly. More and more lines are visible to him now, like faint stars that only appear when the sky is darkest.

His next big adventure will take him and Simberuel back along the major lines connecting the Beacon the the Oculus. The main ley lines that connect the dwelling places of the gods glow harshly, veiling the thin offshoots that lead to other less potent foci. Discovering a new line means that there is an undiscovered focus at its end: a rare source of renewable native magic that can be drawn upon to endlessly replenish a dragon's Breath. Such a resource is equally prized by academics and demagogues, and locating a new one can be incredibly profitable. Alphecca and Simberuel hope to claim new foci in the name of their clan for study, protecting these rare and fascinating sites from exploitation.
