--- 		After a turn of shocking events in which a mage attempted to assassinate at the leader by using the leader's own son, Gaius was chosen to be heir to the throne because the situation was so dire that there was no time to train him. Luckily, Gaius quickly learned to be a fine leader. An analytical and logical dragon, Gaius is the first of a lot of things. First guardian dragon leader in the Shining Ground, first of the Gaius line, the first leader chosen because the current heir was being controlled by a malicious mage. The list goes on.
However, Gaius has his flaws (just like pretty much every other conscious thing that has ever existed). He often prepares for the worst, and while this has prevented him from a few nasty situations, it also causes him to be untrusting of other clans, and other dragons, causing him to have a great fear of becoming close to people. Another problem is his lack of empathy. It's not that he doesn't care about other dragons- he just can't muster the empathy for other dragons if he doesn't think something is seriously wrong. If you told him that you have a bad cold, he wouldn't care at all, but would probably still pretend to care for fear that you would think he doesn't care about you. The problem is, Gaius is really, really terrible at hiding his feelings, so he opted for honesty instead, and that honesty, along with his wonderful intelligence, are the reason the dragons of the Shining Ground trust him.
