Bonegrinder - The Swamp

Between the western edge of the Forest and the dry lands beyond, lied a large swamp. It had been there for ages with very little activities from other living things - because whatever traveled passed got swallowed up by it. On any human map, where the Forest was labeled with trees, the swamp was labeled with a sign of death. Even on the road that winded near the swamp had the sign 'Danger! No wander off the road!' at several places.

But recently there had been sightings of a humanoid figure wandering around the edge of the swamp. A figure downed with vines, feathers and skulls. No one dare to pursuit into the swamp so no clear description could be obtained. The only reliable source of information about its identity was from a passing remark the Protector made to someone he met randomly, who claimed to have seen the creature.

"It was the Swamp, formed from all the remains of those that It swallowed - birds, plants, animals, and humans."

The Protector had not made any further remarks after that.

Whatever It was, for those cautious travelers, nothing had changed. As long as they stick to the safety of the road they got nothing to worry. As for those naughty ones, rule breakers, or those allowed their curiosity got the better of them and wandered too close to the swamp? Who knows. There was no one to tell of their fates.
