Biography
Robert
In memory of my dad. June 4th, 1973 ~ October 31st, 2014
In memory of my dad. June 4th, 1973 ~ October 31st, 2014
Also known as: "Rob" and "KG4ZUO".
I think of my dad every day. He was such a dork! He was the king of puns, and he would use any opportunity you gave him to use a newly learned meme against you (this was circa "your face", "your mom" jokes). We played games like Worms Armageddon and Super Smash Bros together when I was little. If he was losing, he'd blame the controllers without fail. He also like Metroid Prime quite a bit.
My dad was a huge nerd. He learned and absorbed everything he came across - astronomy, guitar playing, public speaking, speaker building, car repair, politics, camping, architecture... You name it, he dabbled in it. His long standing interests were in amateur radio, music (making and listening), and cooking.
Dad really loved to cook. His chest was always puffed out in the summer- he'd cook anything on the grill if he could get mom out of the way (she loves to grill too). I miss his southwest chili and his amazing steaks (plus the steak and eggs we had the next morning). Til the end, he was posting brag-worthy pictures of perfectly rare steaks on his facebook.
We had a complicated relationship, and depression took him from us far too soon. But no matter what, he was my dad.
