Knock Out puts 100% into his appearances at all times, so he knows he looks good and he wants others to know it as well. He defected from his original faction in the civil war due to his partner going missing, and was an instrumental part in both factions finding peace with each other. Some say that it was because he was a part of Megatron's inner circle and his personal medic, but most dragons who know him better say it's because of his relationship with Bumblebee.

Thanks to his vanity, not many people expect him to be one of the head surgeons and medics of the clan. While a little bit more prone to self-preservation and selfishness than those he works alongside, Knock Out knows that his job and patients come first. Often that means that everyone else around him will have to deal with his complaints afterwards, but he still does his job to an impeccable standard that even Ratchet has trouble faulting.
