Biography
Ness the Tracker whatever made this has big feet Theme: Song of Brotherhood |
━━ story ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Hearing about all of Quarry’s relatives wasn’t Ness’s preferred method of killing time, probably not her cousin Pyre’s either. But apparently Snappers just did this sort of thing in the evening. “And then my great-great grandmother on my great grandfather’s side was another Wildclaw, named Clayer.” Quarry seemed to think about that a few moments. “She may live near here, actually, I think.” Ness nodded absently. “My great grandmother’s name is Clayer. I don’t know much about her, but she was supposed to have this glimmering violet underbelly.” “Violet?” Quarry blinked in disbelief. Ness didn’t see what was so strange. “Yes?” Quarry grinned, his tail swishing excitedly. “I believe that makes us cousins, Ness.” “What?” Ness glanced at Pyre. For some reason, it was easier to believe she was related to him. “You and me?” “Yes. Second cousins once removed.” Quarry looked quite pleased with this turn of events. “But, uh,” Pyre said carefully. “You and I aren’t related.” “No.” Quarry didn’t seem to mind that Pyre apparently didn’t want to be related to him. “You are related through Ness’s father’s side.” With that, Pyre grinned at Ness. “Isn’t that nice? One big happy family. We should organize a reunion.” Ness glared for a moment. “This doesn’t count?” |

━━ history ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
|
Ness has been hunting alone since her earliest memory. She remembers very little of her parents except that they hunted together quite well and brought back her meals as a hatchling. They were pleased to see her and her brother strike out on their own. Though Ness never heard from them again personally, she found later that they eventually split ways and went to serve separate deities. She supposes she’ll always wonder what happened. She eventually found a mate of her own, drawn more to him for his appearance than anything else. Since they were both capable fighters, they hunted together for a season before they joined a clan together. These days, Ness still prefers to hunt alone. Linwood takes this a bit personally from time to time, but he sometimes fires back that he’d rather hunt alone as well… wouldn’t want Ness to get hurt. Despite that they butt heads near constantly, they seem to be friends well enough. In any case, they each fulfill their own duties without much difficulty. It came as a surprise that both the blacksmith, Pyre, and the hoardkeeper, Quarry, turned out to be long-lost cousins of Ness’s. Sometimes she tries to use this to her own advantage to get some weapons or repairs free from Pyre, or to borrow bits and baubles from Quarry without the proper paperwork. She’s rarely successful, but she tries. Ness spends the majority of her time finding new paths made by creatures that never go the same way twice. The same could be said for Ness. Though she once lived quite happily in the Gladekeeper’s territory, she hasn’t been back since she left. She supposes that once she leaves her current home, she’ll never be back there either. Nature is cruel. Ness knows that this is a saying and tries her very best to live up to anything but. She doesn’t have much love for the Mother of Glades. She is probably the very worst of all Flight ambassadors, since she doesn’t seem to appreciate her deity or the land all that much at all. Still, she understands Nature quite well, the way it lives and breathes, and how important it is to understand it before stepping lightly into the underbrush. Perhaps it is possible to care for something even without much love for it. |
━━ notes ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
» Thanks to her cousin Quarry’s interest in family trees, Ness learned that Pyre is also her cousin. Even though Quarry and Pyre are not related, they seem to act like they are. » » Claret the pathfinder is Ness’s best friend. Sometimes they still cross paths. |
aesthetic: Ness couldn’t care less how things look; she’ll wear anything as long as it keeps her safe and warm. Her tent is undecorated. |
likes: tall trees, deer trails, tracks (clear or obscured), a challenge dislikes: hunting with a partner, rocky mountains, no breeze _________________________________________________________ |
