The gold hangs from your waist like a forlorn lover and if you believe it to be so then it must be—your words are absolute.
Today, you are a prince of the waters, where the heaven splits to call your name as if yearning for a god long gone. The light reflected in the waves shimmer and shine, shaking like your scales; the photons travel in reverent pilgrimage along your spine. There is a beauty to how the sun pierces the water, a silent stillness of the forest and the river that runs past. When you walk through the currents of the stream they ebb and flow around your feet, as if afraid to hurt even the jewelry adorning your ankles. The water, it bends under your steps, catching gold like fire. Tomorrow, you dance upon the surface of the lake so quickly the water grows envious of the air that catches your feet. Here in the shadows of the trees, the darkness of the lake, the thick canopy of leaves overhead that block the sunlight from above—here, you are king, regent, emperor. The lotus that floats from the river into the lake below your feet is pulled under by the currents, a sinking gold that doesn't shine as radiant as you. Where you command the waters of the lake, the dark abyss of what lies below— It is your eyes, red like rubies and the blood that runs through your veins. (Yesterday, you were the creature dwelling in the depths, dragging flowers like sailors into the undertow of your domain. Yesterday, you were emperor, and bled wine along your legs until you could grow flowers.) Yesterday, the roses adorned your body. Today, the lotusi do.
One of the few dancers that reside within the clan, Jinhai is a quietly amicable man who prefers some days to keep to himself, and other days to be around others. His personality changes as quickly as the tide of the ocean that surrounds the Viridian Labyrinth's borders. His Companion is Zihao, his ever faithful retainer.
