在没有戴上倨傲冰冷的面具时，温饱尚不能作为梦想。按照灭火国奴隶的说法，她在未知人事时就做了供奉邪神的祭司，最初的加冕仪式上，神明将瘦削的少女推上了权力中心的宝座，女官们恭顺地手捧她过长的礼服衣摆，饥饿使她的颈骨比普通孩子还要细，金冠沉重地压在额前，唱完几轮颂词祭文后，神亲自递给她与冠冕相等的职责。
前尘旧事不会轻易漂然远走，只是尽数塞进混噩未开蒙的坟墓中，正如他们高呼着的邪恶名号。那个化身为人的怪物选了副并不完美的躯壳，她只记得他虬曲粗糙的巨掌紧攥着她执刀的手。神明的面容是不易被刻在脑中的，纵使能有人透过光辉的帷幕匆匆投下一瞥，也不过是与庞大的虚影打了个照面。他们的名号落在天选的土地上，因此而滋长出部落城郭。/size]

____她想起书里提起的太阳，不同于地底火海烫得她灼心的痛，她听说太阳很小，悬在一方天空之间却能照看整片陆地。她房间正中堆砌的萤石虽会发光，触手冰冷尖锐。太阳应当是个完美的圆，热腾腾亮堂堂，若是一口吞食，也会让腹中滚滚燃烧，温热心肠。
书中可能没有提到另一点，那已经失传许久，在鬼洞和灭火还是同族的时候，他们还未深居穴底，古时的太阳不仅是金乌，是朱炎，还有个名字叫羽蛇
