STORY
"I will put you back together, if you behave" Anatomy and physiology had always fascinated Carina. Growing up in the Starfall Isles, she didn't have many opportunities to explore her passion. Everyone was too busy exploring the boundaries of magic to care about something so physical. It was annoying that nobody would give her the time of day when she was rambling about how the body worked but she got used to it after a few years. So Carina learned how flexible magic can be then left the Isles to use that knowledge for her own purposes. She spent a fair few years in the Scarred Wastelands. If there is anyone who knows about how the body works, it is the Germs. She learned a bit of medical science, some necromancy, and a whole lot of empathy. Living in a place made of filth and disease from birth can leave a dragon scarred and chronically ill. Carina wanted to help her friends, but unfortunately even experimental magic couldn't save them. Before the Shade claimed them, she asked them if they would return if she could perfect her combination of experimental magic and necromancy. And they agreed. Fortunately for Carina, she could use her knowledge of medicine to work as a doctor. Occasionally patients wouldn't make it and their bodies couldn't be found. But Carina would claim to not know what happened to them. Eventually the hospital got suspicious of the disappearances so Carina skipped town. She ended up at Rota Fortunae City due to the rumors of its lawlessness. When she arrived, the City had cleaned up its act. She spent time working as a doctor in the Nebula District until she was elected Councilor. But she never forgot her promise to her friends. The experiments, code named the Fragments, were tests to hone her craft. The first few could barely draw a breath before the Shade reclaimed them. The failed Fragments were thrown into the Catacombs below the Nebula District. As Councilor, Carina had forbid anyone from going down there. Eventually one worked, it was just the worse person she could have brought back. Sarako, destroyer of the Clarus Clan, religious zealot, and overall horrible person. She had used his body as a joke, but he wanted back bad enough that it worked. She exiled him to the Catacombs but he escaped into the Nebula District. Next came Khseraf. Carina decided the only person who could hunt Sarako down was his ex-wife. He had given her up to the Shade to further his own plot and she was still angry about it. Carina purposefully let Khseraf loose into the City Proper to find her missing experiment. She keeps tabs on her progress though spies. Today, Carina still experiments. The Catacombs grow crowded and the Fragments more restless. She won't stop until they are back. She has to, she promised. |
