Seth

Born under the name of Ophelia, Seth had always been less in favor than her sisters. She had always been uglier, her scales duller and her wings a muddy, sandy color, not the rich earthy tones of Whistler’s wings, or the soft blue of Llyr’s that reminded her so much of the sky above. Even though her parents never admitted it, she knew that they liked her least, always praising her sisters more than her and showing them more attention and love. She learned from an early age that nothing she did was enough for her parents, and while she and her sisters always got into trouble together, it was always her that was scolded, while Whistler and Llyr got nothing more but a mean look.

Envy and hatred soon started to sprout in her heart, and as the years passed by, they rooted deeper and deeper, and their branches spread more and more, until they reached her very soul and turned her pearl – her most precious belonging – black with malice. Soon it started to crack and crumble away slowly, and no matter how many layers upon layers Seth added to it, it only seemed to make it worse, until one day, it fell to dust completely.

Being thus outcast from the Sunbeam Ruins, she abandoned her name and fled towards the Shifting Expanse, making her home in the crags and crevices of the Carrion Canyon, a most dangerous place, especially for a dragon as young as her. What seems barren and inhospitable to most dragons became the ground that fed her, that kept her alive, and that sheltered her from danger. Not many dragons dare to venture deep into the canyon, but it has become a habit for her – she knows the canyon better than anyone else, all its dangers and possible death traps, but she also knows that it holds many hidden secrets. Buried deep below the sand and bones there are treasures to be found, and she has made it her living to uncover them and sell them to interested parties. Seth herself has barely any interest in the things she pulls out of the canyon’s depths, but she knows how to make treasure out of them, and she gladly offers her service to anyone who is willing to pay her a good price. As intimidating and rough as she might be, she does her work fair and square, and expects honesty from her customers as well.

The local clans soon gave her her new name, befitting a dragon like her, unafraid of the perils that the desert holds and a master of the predators that haunt the canyon’s many passages. She uses her looks to intimidate and prides herself in taming wild animals and mythical beasts, making them submit to her and follow her command, her words loud and dominating, her hide scarred from their teeth and claws – marks of the fights she has won against them and a grim reminder to them that she dominates them. She uses whips and fire to control them, and whatever beast dares to rebel against her will be blinded by her claws or her magic. Bound to thick iron chains, she keeps some of them as pets and only sets them free when she needs them to hunt for her – be it prey or foe, or the poor souls who dared to scam her. Some of the animals that she catches and tames she sells to others for treasure or food, and if they pay her good enough, she will even agree to go out and search for a specific beast and catch it for them.

Though she prefers to live alone, she will stay with a clan for a short period of time if the need arises. Having become somewhat famous among certain shady clans, she has become an object of interest for the Cloudscrape Marauders as well, and will occasionally do business with them, if she thinks that their payment is good enough.
