Biography

Bones discovered Blight during one of his scavenging trips to gather more bones for his collection; he mistook the dying Ridgeback for a skeleton at first, given how her scales had been bleached to a chalky-white and burnt to a charred black in the blistering sun. Her ribs pressed defined outlines against her ghastly thin chest, and the skin on her face and digits had started to dry and peel off like old paint. Despite her horrendous condition, however, the Mirror was quick to notice that she was still breathing in small, shallow gasps.

Too small to carry her to shelter and too scared to leave her on her own, Bones sat at the withered Ridgeback's side and shrieked for help in his raspy, scratchy voice, determined to keep her company in what very well could've been her final moments. They were quite fortunate that the clan's mechanic, Gizmo, was nearby, and happened to hear the incredible din that the Mirror was creating. Rushing over to them, the Imperial wasted no time in getting Blight on her back and carrying her to their lair, Bones following close behind.

It took weeks of non-stop work, but eventually, Gizmo had been able to save Blight from death by outfitting her with all sorts of mechanical replacements for the limbs and organs that were failing her. Tango and Myura assisted as well, lending healing magic and potions that would onset beneficial mutations; while these kept her alive during the procedure, it also resulted in her skin becoming translucent and caused the formation of broad fins across her body. Unfortunately, the skin and muscle on some parts of her body had deteriorated to nothing, completely exposing her skull and various other bones.

While she was grateful to be alive, Blight was terrified of her new appearance, and shuddered with fear every time she felt the whirr of machinery in her chest instead of a living heartbeat. She donned a black hood to hide her skeletal face, and separated herself from the rest of the clan she now resided in (she had to remain with them so she could get maintenance on her robotic parts). The only dragon she had any sort of interaction with anymore was Bones, who constantly reassured her that she looked stunning, knowing full well that she would never believe it.

One day, Bones brought a surprise gift to the reclused Blight; asking for her to close her eyes, he gently lowered a bone crown just like his own onto her head. Permitting her to look, Blight peered at her new headgear through a mirror he had offered her, and for the first time since her revival, she smiled. It was a gruesome smile, stirring dead skin and charred tissue free from her skeletal jaws, but she didn't even notice that through her immense joy at such a meaningful gift. Looking back at Bones, he bowed his head and said in a creaky voice that rivaled even her own; "My skeleton queen."
