"I've only done what I thought was necessary." Born into a position of royalty and high class, Amon never wanted much as a child. Back in his home clan he was raised as all his siblings were--as a diplomatic envoy to other clans and territories. He was taught the histories, mathematics, tactics and languages. By the time he was a teenager, Amon showed a great deal of skill at diffusing situations and was seen as charismatic enough to lead. He never wanted this though, and much preferred to stay in the background, watching from shadows of a room and observing all that happened before him. Keeping to himself, most thought the young pearlcatcher as cold and aloof, but really he is as warm and charming as any noble ought to be. His secret is he enjoyed knowledge and learning, watching others, listening to their terrible lies that didn't match up with the rest of them. The position of power belonged to those with information. Once old enough, he was sent out into the world, and landed in the city of Haelwyn. There, though he was expected to do better, became retainer and teacher to the young nobles of the Eskil kingdom. He found himself caring for these young children, and devoted his time to protecting, educating and serving. It was heartbreaking when he had to stage their deaths. With panic and betrayal by the youngest son rising, and the elder two children having run away, Amon did what was necessary. A user of memory manipulation magic, he altered the memories of everyone involved. He staged the murder of the two eldest, and while most believed they had died, he knows they still live in clans far away. The small prince, Noll, should have been executed, but Amon prevented it. No one would know of Noll's mistake, granted he and Amon could stay quiet about what had happened. He still visits the former high prince and princess, worried for their well being. |
