Vernal, the clan fortune teller. He has visions of the future and creates prophecies. He uses his gift for his clan, telling Pandra all that he knows so she can make decisions on clan matters. Vernal is also the brother of Pandra's mother, making him her uncle.

Vernal is mysterious, and rarely speaks unless provoked to do so. He is most often lost in thought. The soft sounds of the Water Flight territory helps him think. He has a cave down the side of the shore that he meditates in. Despite his constant isolation, he enjoys the company of his clan mates; as long as they are quiet.

He ultimately refuses to take a mate. Vernal says that he desires no form of distraction from his visions; this is a burden that he must carry on his own.
