Petrichor knew something was wrong even before the High Council publicly announced his twin as being a betrayer of their kind. It was an innate sense of sort that the pair had always had with one another that usually could be solved by his natural way of drawing attention to himself or Sonder's abilities to calmly talk his way out of a situation. This, Forest, he wasn't sure how he could protect his brother from this. Of all the foolish things to do Sonder had to go and choose defying the High Council's latest decree before disappearing. Father was strictly neutral on the subject and his stepmother couldn't stop talking about Sonder's betrayal. It was only a small comfort that Amisra was more than ready to fight anyone on behalf of their elder brother's choices. Thankfully Amisra was still young enough that her actions (both vocal and magical) could be construed as simply that of a naive fae child who could see nothing wrong in her elder brother's actions as well as the lasting effect they would hold. Petrichor knew better, but he was also one of two who saw the brilliant intelligence dancing within her dark, round eyes.

Court was held the next day to publicly announce Sonder's misdeed as well as announce an even more public manhunt. Sonder was not to be harmed (at risk of alienating or angering the other royals) or killed (so they may still get a chance at completing their task). The High Council thought the whole task to take no longer than five years and that was mainly taking account of the Forest's will to help the fleeing prince- though the council would never openly admit that that was something the Forest was actively doing. The announcement ended with several families offering their sons and daughters aide in the hunt for the fae prince. Petrichor's stomach plummeted as he took note of those of stealth magic bloodlines offering their services. His twin may have had a head start, but he was still essentially working alone; the odds of Sonder completing whatever it was he was trying to achieve would drop steadily as time went on and Petrichor wasn't so sure he wanted his twin to be caught.

Their family hadn't quite disowned Sonder, but his twin and him had switched standings which meant Petrichor was now the crown prince of the Lunam Clan. He hated it. His stepmother spent all her time bemoaning the 'unruly twins' she had to raise in the stead of his deceased mother and his father said nothing on the subject of Sonder save a tired and disappointed look he wore when they were away from prying eyes. Petrichor was sure the worst of it was having to sit through a crowning ceremony twice. Not to mention the unbearable task of dealing with the other royals; all of whom had, for the most part, previously ignored him in favor of his elder twin. How his twin dealt with them and all their tedious talk of potential marital arrangements, border disputes, and taxation and handling of those that served under their respective clans, he wasn't sure, but he surely admired Sonder having taken on those tasks with seeming ease. The absolute worst part of him having to take over Sonder's role as Lunam heir however, was the formal bodyguard he was assigned; officially the bodyguard was to protect him as he was their last male heir, but Petrichor was sure this was something his doting parents did to ensure he couldn't embarrass them further by following in Sonder's footsteps. Thank the Forest, he knew the walls of his cage better than his new jailor.

Like he did when he was closer to Amisra's age, Petrichor started small with his rebellions. He made use of the lesser faes (once loyal to his deceased mother and now to Sonder and himself) and sent them out in his stead to collect information on the status of the hunt for his twin. As the reports they brought back grew more and more worrying, he started to venture out himself; hiding away beneath the guise of a lesser noble's attire and only moving during the dead of night. Out of all the people to catch him in his act, he wasn't expecting his bodyguard, the newcomer to their territory, to be the one to find him. Least of all for that very same bodyguard (whose loyalty should have been better sworn to his parents than himself) to grant his aide to Petrichor's self-appointed task. Nikiforov's aide was what gave Petrichor the final push to do more than try and secretly sabotage the searchers efforts. He started using the lesser fae loyal to his family, those of his mother's bloodline, to send letters and magicked care packages to where Sonder was- something he was sure to forbid them from telling him or anyone else.

Time passed on and, through the use of their loyal lesser fae, he learned of his brother's trials as well as the romance blooming between Sonder and one of his former hunters, a Stealth magicked fae by the name of Tana. Petrichor couldn't have been more happy for his twin, especially considering the likelihood of Sonder having otherwise married politically had he not chosen to rebel. Forest knows his twin would do just about anything for their clan, so this second, quieter rebellion of his, was something that Petrichor was more than happy to offer his help with.

Actively taking over Sonder's former duties and aiding both his twin and the burgeoning rebellion in the wake of his brother's actions was no easy task. If it weren't for [Bodyguard]'s aide in things, Petrichor's sure he would have started floundering under all that was expected of him. Still, there were days where the pressure of all that he was juggling got to be too much for him to handle. Those were the days he missed having his brother around the most. Sonder’s quiet knowledge had always been a comfort and not a burden. Maybe when Petrichor was younger, he had thought he could be like him; but his silence was never patient. His knowledge was not gentle. It was those days that Petrichor would spend time in his mother's old room; surrounded by things that reminded him of her and all she taught them before her passing. It was in that room that he came across the truth of his mother's demise. Amisra may have resembled their mother the most, but it was his brother and him who had spent the most time with her. They were taught the ways of her clan and that while they may be Lunam, they will always have a place among those of the Heliade Clan. With that memory in the forefront of his mind, he sent one final letter as the Crown Prince of the Lunam Clan to Sonder, stamped closed with the seal of the Heliade Clan:

Mother told us: do not take prisoners, do not allow survivors. If there must be war: kill all that oppose you. I have picked my side.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don't look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn't anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text. All the Lorem Ipsum generators on the Internet tend to repeat predefined chunks as necessary, making this the first true generator on the Internet. It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate Lorem Ipsum which looks reasonable. The generated Lorem Ipsum is therefore always free from repetition, injected humour, or non-characteristic words etc.
