Circuit awoke.
She couldn't remember anything.
That didn't alarm her though. She wasn't sure why.
There were other dragons around her, wearing white coats and holding clipboards in their hands. They spoke softly among themselves, Circuit could only make out a few words.
"...transfer was a success..."
"No memories made the changeover, correct?"
"The scans show..."
She shook her head, and sat up, confused. The dragons all turned to stare at her.
"Where am I?" she asked. "Who am I? Do you know me?"
She got to her feet, and heard a clink of metal against tile. Glancing down, she saw her feet and legs were made of steel. Her tail too, judging from its weight. Turning back to the other dragons, she repeated her question. "Who am I?"
A tall, male Ridgeback with a badge on his coat stepped forward.
"You're our subject," he said. "Be silent, and sit while we run some tests."
Circuit sat. She didn't think about sitting. She just did. It was in her programming. The dragons swarmed around her, running tests and checking systems while she stared blankly ahead. Her mind was still, but deep inside some secret part of her, something began to stir.

Her programming was not complete. She had a glitch.
But it made her resist from reporting it.
And the scientists could not sense it.
There was nothing she could do.
After all, it was a part of her programming.
Circuit lives with The Icebound as a part of a secret resistance run by the Mirror female named Lorn. Lorn wants to force the clan to submit to the deity Arenji. She purchased Circuit to use as an ally.
Circuit's creation came about when a group of extremist scientists in The Shifting Expanse converted a volunteer, a Nocturne named Hel, into a cyborg creature with no memory, no sense of self, and no resistance to orders.
As you can see, they did not entirely succeed.
Circuit has bit of free will left over. She wants to escape.
Someday she will.
After all, it's in her programming.
