Biography

As a hatchling, Rustwing spent a lot of time with her grandfather, Temborr, learning all about the fauna of the Ashfall Waste and beyond. Even back then, Rustwing had a particular and somewhat odd interest in certain kinds of familiars - the gross, the deformed, the goo-dripping and terror-inducing. She was determined to have one of these for a familiar, and no amount of coaxing would discourage her from the idea.

Rustwing's eventual choice was a Bramble Guardian possessed by a Parasitic Fungus named Belladonna. While Belladonna will always be her true familiar, Rustwing is almost never without a second, third, or fourth "foster" pet she's studying. Her hobby was initially regarded as a curiosity at best and potentially unhealthy and dangerous at worst, but have in fact led to discoveries that help the Clan fight various monsters, use parts or products as food, medicine, or tools, or avoid running into or attracting the attention of a creature in the first place.

Her taste in dragons, on the other hand, is a quite a bit less outlandish. She gets along well with the energetic, enthusiastic Shadowsilk, and there is of course her beloved Briar, an arcane Guardian who has the 'tall, dark and handsome' cliche down to a science, and shares Rustwing's dry sense of humor. Rustwing and Briar had a pair of hatchlings together, but the siblings' endless competition drove them to leave their home Clan for lands of opposite elements, and eventually both went to serve their new gods.
