Biography
Honzou was found, as an unhatched egg, by a clanless old Guardian.
A Charge, she said, again and again, every time the hatchling asked why her caretaker had accepted her. The older dragon hated contact, and avoided clans like they were death itself. Honzou didn't properly understand, not when talking to other dragons and playing with other hatchlings was so fun, but she would do her best to be thankful to who actually raised her by welcoming all of her teachings - even when they included ignoring people, apart from herbal knowledge.
Nature, Honzou was soon taught, held the secrets to their continued survival in so many more ways than prey. Even though Guardians like the two of them had a strictly carnivore diet - a fact the Teacher would often complain about, lamenting the futility of lives lost for continued survival of others - their wounds were cured by herbs, and so were their ailments, the cold that attacked each winter. It was plants, Hozou learned, that would give them the secret to life or death, and, even if they didn't speak their language, they could talk to them so clearly with their colours and blooming.
When Teacher passed away, she used the last of her strength to hit Honzou over the head. "Find a clan," she said. "Become their doctor, or alchemist, I don't care."
And find a clan, Honzou would.
