Biography
The blessed golden rays of duskfall yearned to subside the shadows, and yet, they are both destined to bow to fate, its final master. Its foe, the shadow that wrought a burning vengeance against the merciful light, sought its hours of reign. It lurked in ominous silence, biding to vanquish its opposition, to banish the sun into its shattered, fractured exile. If only, if only, it could break the cycle of fate, and keep the light at bay, but it was never to come. Neither light nor shadow could rise, claim victory, nor vanquish its foe. It was a binding of a force beyond the physical, beyond corporeal matters and their miniscule existences. This force was woven deep within the rhetoric, threaded into destiny and flowing through the currents of time itself. And this force, attempted to be defined and contained within a single word- fate; was so much more than an omniscient presence that presided over all known creation. It was the render of pain and a conduit of glory, a harbinger of wars and the sentinel of peace. It was an essence that observed the very war between light and darkness, and playing a game most cruel and treacherous by forbidding a victor to be crowned. But fate had a will unlike any mortal. It was unswayed, relinquishing in the gray matter in between light and darkness. And this was the key, a secret of the ethereal forces, left unguarded to all mortals. Left, without protection of the vigilant, for it was a truth that all mortals refused to discover and declare as truth in their insatiable quest for dominion. And there are creatures, their race traced in cryptic mentions throughout the most ancient of manuscripts. Children, not of light or darkness, souls wrought from the in between, whose only nature is to transcend the bonds of allegiance, that wields the greatest of power, that harbors the the greatest of knowledge. Ones who harness the dark and rent strength from light, preside over the living and its pitiful shade and sin that festers in their lands, as well as the bright and blessed relief of the realm of spirits. They walk between worlds, stride between universes. Their power is no more than a horrid curse- as the confliction of forces overcome them in the end, as they never find end to the internal war, soul disintegrating as it tears the very fabric to pieces, a reminder to all of dragonkind that war is the pathway to eternal vengeance, that has empires fall and reversed ichor to blood and back again. Such children are living manifestation of truth and knowledge, patrons of philosophy. They are the abyss of night and brilliance of day woven in unison, blessed touches of sentience bestowed upon them, and shaped by divine hand into dragon's form.

And then, there are the soulwardens, the soulcatchers, who wear this kingdom's crown.
