Ino

Ino Taranis, the Lightning Surfer

-Carries a lightning rod he uses as a staff
-Fires bolts of lightning at targets, very fast speed, medium range, 20 bolts before recharge.
-Can also throw shock mines that paralyzes and damages for 1.5 seconds.
-Movement: Lightning Surf. Surfs up to 50 yards forward on a bolt of lightning. This effect can fly.
-Ultimate: Chain Lightning. Ino will slam down his staff and lightning arcs from it, dealing AOE damage to everyone within a short range around him.

Appearance:

-Scottish/Hawaiian (speaks with a Scottish accent)
-Demi-pansexual and demi-panromantic
-Age 24
-Tan skin with dark freckles
-Blue-black hair, very straight and long
-Icy blue eyes
-Thin but toned from surfing.
-Tattoos on his arms, both Celtic and Hawaiian
-Wears black/royal blue with cyan highlights
-Flowy clothes with a hood
-Wears goggles, usually resting on top of his head, but will put them on when he’s lightning-surfing.
-Has a pet shocker lizard named Sparky. He found Sparky in Honolulu right after a rainstorm and took him home. They’ve been inseparable ever since.

Personality:

Ino has a warm personality. He’s charming, laid back, and all around likable. He has a long fuse and doesn’t get upset often but when he does, it’s for good reason. He has a knack for analyzing situations and problem-solving.

Owns and rides a sport bike.

Favorite food is pizza with pineapple. He also likes Indian food. He drinks tea, and occasionally good Scotch whiskey.

History:

Ino has 2 biological dads, one is a trans man.

His Scottish father is named Alistair Gordon. He is a volcanologist who came to Hawaii to study Mauna Kea and other volcanoes. Alistair can’t walk due to a car accident when he was a teenager. He gets around with a hoverchair.

In Hawaii, there is a certain family group that are born with elemental energy. Centuries ago, they were blessed by the Hawaiian god Iao to protect the earth, dubbing them “Iao’s children”. Their elemental gift has been passed down for generations to those that share their bloodline. Ino is one of the few that is gifted.

Ino’s Hawaiian father, named Keahi, is a firedancer whom has the ability to control fire, being one of Iao’s children. He also is a volunteer firefighter. Keahi and Alistair met while Alistair was studying Mauna Kea. The two fell in love and were married before moving back to Glasgow. Soon after, Keahi became pregnant with Ino.

Ino was born in Glasgow, Scotland where he lived until he was 10, then his family moved back to Honolulu after the Robot Crisis.

Since Ino was born, he altered electricity around him, making electronics go haywire. He had to wear special rubber based clothes until he learned how to suppress his unique ability.

As a child, Ino was fascinated by how things worked and often tinkered with computers and other electronics. Combined with his electric affinity, he often broke or fried the computer components much to his dismay. He even had a few run-ins with local androids, accidentally scrambling their systems, causing him to be wary of them for fear he would hurt them.

After he moved to Honolulu, Ino continued to have problems with electrical static around him. One day, he visited Mauna Kea where he prayed to Pele, the volcano goddess that his father taught him about. That night in a dream, she introduced him to Haikili, the god of thunder, who taught him how to suppress and control the electricity around him, manipulating it into lightning.

After his dream, he became obsessed and researched as much as he could about lightning and electricity, graduating high school early and attending college to earn an electrical engineer degree. He also studied robotics. Ino’s best friend is Simon-4, a timid android that went to college with him and he had helped repair after he was brutally beaten by a local anti-robot gang.

Ino is now one of the world’s top young scientists and inventors in recent years. He has also helped develop some of the most advanced technology used by several government agencies. He believes that his gift with electricity was to help others and make the world better.



A cute little story about Ino catching a chipskink from hufflepuffsansa:

Ino burst into the scene. He was pure excitement; the thrill of the chase catching up with him to the point that he lost a small amount of control over his magic and tiny sparks of lightning stung a few who passed by.

He quickly surveyed the area, and threw out his left hand. The air crackled around him, and he focused on a spot about ten feet away. When a medium-sized creature ran over that point, he whipped his arm back, and the ground underneath the animal burst with light-blue lightning.

Ino dashed forward to catch his prey, which stood paralysed where it was struck. It caught the Guardian's attention, who shot a quick smile at him before running off in another direction to catch her own.

The prey was starting to move slowly, dazed and confused. Ino took pity on it, and rubbed it between its tiny blue ears. "I'm really sorry about that," he said gently.

The chipskink looked at him warily, but Ino kept shushing it. "I was trying to be a little bit less scary, but I promise I won't do that again."

The chipskink didn't say anything - naturally - but it did settle down a little bit.

Ino took that as a victory.
