SOMEBODY sold Scathewail a map that they claimed would lead to an untouched Shard vein in the Abiding Boneyard. It wasn't until after she was wandering half-dead in the Wasteland that she'd reflect on how cheap the price of the map was, particularly given that it was supposed to lead to some of the rarest and most desirable ore in all of Sornieth. That was how Magdaw found her, muttering to herself about Shard ore and having strong words with heat-mirages and dust-devils by turns as the Wasteland worked on taking what it could. Magdaw built a camp around Scathewail and spent a week slowly nursing the ridgeback to some semblance of health. Once Scathewail'd gotten strong enough to walk again, they headed into the Flat, where she got some proper food and a bed and a change of clothes. The Employment Agency hadn't much for a dragon only freshly returned from the dead -- aside from a gig washing dishes and pouring drinks at the Skull & Shark, which seemed too good to be a true for one as broke as Scathewail. Standing up for longer than five minutes without getting winded was a challenge, but one she overcame with time and determination. She'd meant to move on once the season ticked over and she'd made enough to buy supplies to make the passage out of the Wasteland, but -- well. The Wasteland left its mark on her, and she finds herself reluctant to part from it just yet. Later. Maybe. | xxxxxxxxxx |

IMPRESSIONS
It's hard to tell what's scale and what's old pockmarks left behind by the Blessing on her hide, so rippled and stippled and cratered is she. Wounders are given to tipping their hats respectfully to her on the street, keenly aware of how hard she must've fought to keep her own heart beating out there in the Wasteland before Magdaw found her. She seems resigned to the attention, if not exactly discomfited.

RELATIONSHIPS
MADRIGAL may have his shady side,or worse, but Scathewail's hard pressed to think ill of him. He could've easily dismissed her when she was still recuperating, and didn't. That means something to her. SIDEWINDER is distractingly ... distracting. Scathewail prides herself on knowing the Skull & Shark's menu backwards and side to side by now, but one much obliged, darlin' from Sidewinder and she forgets her own name. MAGDAW saved Scathewail's life and she didn't even hold it against her. Scathewail doesn't much remember her first meeting with Magdaw, on account of the delirium, but she sure remembers the first time Magdaw came limping into the Skull & Shark to check on her -- not to mention the look on Madrigal's face when the old tundra told him to take care of her proper, you hear me? |
