Biography

☽ ECATE ☾
Fortune Teller of the Clan
(and, sometimes, an Enchantress)

Dark Wings, Dark Words

Ecate came across the Clan one terrible, stormy night of winter. She was flying over the sea; the raindrops felt icy cold on her skin, sending shivers down her spine. She couldn't see anything in the thick fog that spread in front of her. Her wings were tired, her head heavy like lead... but she had to go on. She couldn't stop. Because that thing was chasing her.
She had to flee from her last home because of that. She was almost settled, at the time - she had a good home, some food to spare, and had her eye on a possible mate, too - but when that familiar ringing in her ears came to her, she left anything she had and ran into the night, followed only by her familiar.

It seemed like a lifetime ago...
She was determined to cast a spell. A terrible spell that would've made the earth tremble and the skies cry.
She wanted to make the dead come alive once again.
But the spirit of her stillborn child could never return...
In its stead, came the Shadow.

Nereus found her fainted on the shore, helpless, half-drowned, with her clothes torn and tattered. He sighed and looked at her for a long moment, before lowering his snout to touch hers. He shivered, feeling the dark, intense energy that was nestled inside her heart. But he also felt the grief and suffering that haunted her soul, and was moved by pity.
So he called Thetis, the Great Mother, and begged her to help the Shadow-touched soul to finally rest in peace.

Ecate never found out if the Shadow finally vanished from the world. She continues to work as a fortune teller, sometimes casting minor spells, but never again attempting to become a full-fledged sorceress.

She is particularly inclined to predict the client's misfortunes and because of that she's looked at with suspicion and respect both.

Her nest is located in a little cave, far from anyone else's sight. She usually lives in solitude and is regarded as the "weird and creepy" one.
