He looked up as birds startled and flew into the sky. It was almost autumn and he loved the feeling of the cool breeze blowing in the wind. He continued slowing walking through the tall savanna grass where he blended in perfectly. This perfect camouflage helped him in perfecting his hunting techniques. A crisp breeze caused the grass to sway, and he stopped to smell the air. What he smelled confused him, as it did not smell like prey, but like another dragon. Puzzled, he began to follow the scent. Weaving slightly between the umbrella thorn trees growing throughout the grass, he was on the trail and definitely heading in the right direction. His wings remained tucked tightly at his sides. Since he was a raptor, his speed was usually all he needed. He really only used his wings to escape sticky situations, or to intimidate something larger than him. The sun was now beginning to set, however he was close to the other dragon now. The setting sun lit up the savanna sky in bright shades of oranges and reds as the rest of the terrain started to turn dark. He was at the edge of the tall grass now, when he saw something strange. In the small clearing under a large umbrella thorn, bright stars began illuminating the ground. He watched the strange sight from the safety and camouflage of the grass. |
