Onward to Sornieth

"Today's the day, Magnus!" His mother beamed.
"Aren't you excited? You get to live on what the natives to the planet call 'Sornieth,' yes?"
Magnus was an alien. He didn't always look like a Spiral, but he had been studying the planet of Sornieth for the past few years. The Draconic language, the culture, the Beastclans, everything. In his culture, when one became an adult they always went to a different planet to study it and those living there. It just so happens that Magnus chose Sornieth, for he found the many different cultures of dragons and beasts alike to be fascinating. His kind has the ability to shapeshift, but they must study the species they shift into well before they do so. That was the reasoning for his kind exploring other planets: to learn about new species, acquire knowledge of their planetary neighbors, and to gain the natives of the planet's favor should they ever need to abandon their own planet.
"The planet of the dragons is indeed called Sornieth." Magnus took a deep breath as he stared at his parents, not knowing the next time he'd see them.

"Mother, father... Though I am excited to live with the dragons, I can't help but be anxious. Do you think they'll accept me? The last thing I would want is to be viewed like an invader."
His mother smiled. "You'll be fine, my sweet Star Child. Do not fret."
"After all, we made it back home safely after we studied the planets we lived on. Just remember that you can come back any time if you need to." His father stated.
His parents then gave Magnus a hug.
"We're so proud of you!" His mother and father said in unison.
Magnus' eyes sparkled with tears as he kept his mother and father in an embrace. "I'll miss you."

"We'll miss you, too. All I ask is that you remember to be safe, and while you're at it, have fun. This is the beginning of a new start in your life, embrace it!" Magnus' mother cheered. She was happy for him, and yet she couldn't help but allow a few tears to fall down her face. Magnus' father held her hand to help both of them stay strong.
He stepped over to his aircraft with a bold yet somewhat hesitant stride. He lifted his aircraft's canopy gently, a gush of wind pouring out as he did so.
He climbed inside and took one last look at his parents. "I'll be sure to write to you, perhaps even send some of my notes on the dragons to you if I can. Goodbye, mother, and goodbye, father!"
His parents waved to him, grinning despite the sadness from seeing their son leave. "Goodbye, Magnus! We love you!"

Magnus shut the canopy of his aircraft and pressed the appropriate buttons to begin launch. Unlike the spaceships that mankind knows, it was powered by an element found only on certain planets. It looked similar to Uranium crystals, yet did not produce smoke nor fire. It is unclear to those who are not of Magnus' kind just how their aircrafts work. The airship began to lift off of the ground, and once it was successfully in the air it was gone in a flash. Magnus' mother and father stared at the sky for a moment, then turned around to go back home. Their son was about to begin his new life on Sornieth.

Crash Landing
