Nightmare subspecies
Nightmares are the things that go bump in the night. They are the shadow on the wall when nothing is there to provide it. They are the beings that plague one’s sleep with stuff of horror and fright. They are walking Nightmares. These beings sport attire of black, grey, dark purple, or a mix of the three. Their figure alone strikes fear into the hearts of other dragons, while their piercing gaze stare into others’ souls. Be careful not to stare too long.
These dragons usually linger within the darkest corners of the land, waiting for an unsuspecting dragon or being to wander past. When night falls they leave their dens and search out for sleeping victims. They say when a Nightmare finds a victim, they are never to be seen again. Their diet consists of sweet dreams, fireflies, and other unassuming creatures. Even dragons.
No one knows where these things came from, but some say they are the spawn of The Shade. It's hard to say.
