Now that Morrigan and Silail are at the last of age, Clan Ulalume sees them at their truest. The former, of course, is at last ready to inherit, keeping her claws sharpened for the day she is called to lead in her parents' place. The latter, though, is more than content with her lot, and would not seek to change the way of things.

That is Silail's natural approach to life, though. Unlike Morrigan, who will challenge any sequence of events until it falls in line with her desires, Silail does not wish to unravel and restructure the world in such away. She glides through life knowing that events, as they are, have made her the dragon she is today. Without them, she might be someone entirely new, a concept she is not particularly keen on. Why change who she is for the sake of decisions only here and there?

And so Silail has come to appreciate all the things in life for what they are. That said, she is hardly averse to the finer things. It's certainly a perk of her heritage, access to luxury whenever the whim takes her. Silken sheets and five-course dinners are available whenever she wishes, and there is a certain satisfaction to the dragons of Ulalume one and all-knowing her name and greeting her wherever she goes. Maybe Morrigan would prefer privacy, but Silail feels nothing but warmth for the sense of community that comes with being known.

Knowing others in return can be slightly more difficult if she is telling the truth. It's not as if she doesn't try, but there are simply so many dragons in the clan that remembering each and every one by name is something of a strain. Itinerant members are particularly difficult to remember, especially when they haven't been around for very much of her life, instead of wandering Sornieth.

When the shame of not knowing her clan as well as she ought to becomes too much, though, Silail often departs into the forest, following a series of paths only she and her mate, Nova, know by heart. Out among the Shadowbinder's gloomy woods, no longer bound by expectations of any sort, Silail is free to relax and face her fears and flaws with a clear heart. She cherishes that quiet and trusts its recentering effects more deeply than anything she's ever known.

She may not inherit the leadership of Ulalume, but she wants to be there for her clan nonetheless. And maybe one day, with time and slices of personal peace in the forest, she might be able to call all of Ulalume by name. It is kindness due to them, and she intends to one day rise to the occasion.
