If Quileute remembers his parents or hatchmates, he's never let on. Antoni was the one to find the half-starved hatchling cracking bones between his jaws and snarling possessively over the corpse of a downed phytocat nearly as large as he was, near the border of the Fire lands, when she was only half-grown herself and out scavenging for useful trinkets. Though he scarcely seemed verbal at the time, she managed to lure him closer to their camp over several days, with choice bits of meat, finally earning his wary acquiescence to the idea of moving along with them until they found a good place for a lair. It wasn't long before he was contributing to their food stores with routine hunting trips and a fair amount of success, and when another roving band of nomads attempted to make inroads on their newly claimed territory, Quileute was first to launch himself at the intruders, hissing incoherently and laying about with sharp spines and claws until they fled in disgrace.

He remains a dragon of few words--one, or none at all, if he can get away with it--but seems to understand what his clanmates ask of him, cannily enough. He and the grizzled, heavy-set snapper, Rhinellus seem to enjoy a particularly effective brand of wordless communication when it comes to battle. The two often spend several days on end making roaming circuits of the clan's territory, along with a rotating pack of younger guards-in-training, and only periodically return to the central lair.
