Believed to be an illicit offspring of Sir Shadow, Rajani was an outcast from a very young age. Due to her strangely high shade genetics, anyone she touches is immediately afflicted with the shade. Wearing gloves stops it, but only partly, and depending on the fabric the seep-through time varies. Usually even in gloves the shade is transferred in less than 30 seconds.

It didn't take long for her to be kicked from several clans before finding Corde, where she could live safely. That is, until she accidentally touched one of the children, blackening them with the shade. Despite it not being her choice, she decided to go into exile to avoid the same thing happening again. Even though the king and queen have forgiven her, she would rather stay distant for the safety of others.

The child she touched is Daniel's little sister, Salma, and ever since then she has been wheelchair or bed bound, despite Attaci and Theia doing their best to pull the shade out as quickly as it came. Because she was so young, the shade ended up affecting her spinal cord and immune system - she cannot leave the confines of the inner castle, where the king and queen have taken her in.

Despite her being all-but shunned from the clan, Rajani still follows them as the only clan to truly let her in. Only Attaci and Anneliese have pity on the poor girl and give her shelter in either their home or the church. Feed her with food Gordon gives them, him knowing full well who it's for. Attaci is one of the few people Rajani can touch as Attaci is already afflicted with the shade - same with her husband Hune. She is only a danger to those who aren't already affected with it.

She is also forcing herself to wear the rose garments not because they are beautiful, but because they bring pain. With each dance move the thorns dig in deeper and every night she has to gently pry them out so she can remove the outfit to sleep. She wears them as a reminder of the pain she has caused others, a personal penance even on top of her exile.

Despite all of these hardships and the pain she has had to endure, Rajani still has a great devotion to Lady Light and Sir Shadow, understanding for herself that she is not an offspring, merely someone with a genetic deformity that also seeped into her magic. She is one of the most devout women within the clan and Anneliese would have invited her to be a priestess years ago if it weren't for her self-imposed exile. (15 May 2017)
