miles is donanma's only child within the clan, and is on the whole, very poorly received by the other ceifa- irregardless of one's patronage, ceifa have to make a name for themselves through their deeds and hard work in order to remain in the band. for many, miles doesn't appear to contribute a great deal. he spends most of his time fooling about in the edge of the sea of a thousand currents, failing miserably at fishing and trailing kelp behind him through the clan territory.

as far as relationships are concerned, miles' personality is rather meek; he's haughty deep down, but radiates very little around his contemporaries. a particularly small dragon for his age, and none too physically built, he's not one to rough-house much, and so doesn't socialise with the other young'uns as much. he has developed a particular affinity to opinel though, finding the boy to be great company- both ostracised almost equally by their bandmates, each finds great company in the other, and miles can even be caught laughing and smiling around the other lad.

outside of this though, miles has taken a particular fascination with the clan justice, and is transfixed whilst watching him pour over documents and carry out his work in tuuli's court whenever an injustice blights the band. so fascinated is he that perhaps.... he is tempted to follow in the justice's footsteps? whenever miles isn't haunting the water's edge, he's trailing the justice & his assistant- waiting to pluck up the courage to ask him to become his mentor. opinel often wonders if the bird perched on miles' shoulder is in likeness to the boy's father, or more likely a homage to the birds always accompanying the justice. it's most likely the latter.
