Vayira was born when the moon was well into the sky, the twinkle of stars casting a soft glow on the shimmering ice below. The Archmage believes it is the moon herself that gifted Vayira with her magical prowess; only one so mighty as she could provide such a blessing.

Even in her early hours of life, Vayira had opened her eyes. Her eyes were the colour of frosted ice, pale blue and watchful. She did not cry, nor did she sleep even though her siblings—who came not too soon after—rested soon enough. The power within her buzzed in her mind, a constant presence and leaving her startlingly awake.

As Vayira passed into adolescence, and then aged further into adulthood, she became a cautious being. The Ice magic within her always threatened to burst out and she had to learn to keep it coiled tight within, so that it would not burst forth in a flurry of white ice. The moon's boon, it would seem, had multiple sides to it.

When Vayira last decided to leave her birth clan, she did so trained as well as she could by her mage mother. She had the power of the Icewarden in her clawtips and the world, she felt, was ready for such a thing. As a parting gift, her mother bestowed upon her a feline companion. The brown cat was said to have a firm understand of dragon magic and bonded instantly with Vayira. Her father, in his kindness, gave her a pale cloak with which to shield herself against prying eyes.
