Biography

If asked their opinion of Hemadri, most of his clanmates would answer that he was a perfectly agreeable part of their group, after taking a moment to remember who Hemadri is. He's the sort of guy that blends into the background. It seems as if nobody ever taught him how to interact with others: talking to him is an awkward experience, as he lacks the ability to carry on a normal conversation. Halfway through he'll either get distracted and forget to respond, or will start to ramble on and on excitedly about a topic the other person has little interest in. However, most of his clanmates grin and bear it to see the young Spiral's giddy reaction to being included.
Hemadri is always up to whatever task is asked of him, and does his jobs well when he remembers. His clanmates often laugh about his poor short term memory when they remind him, often not for the first time, that he forgot to do something he agreed to.

The story of how Hemadri joined this clan changes depending on who you ask. Many have no recollection of when he joined, claiming that by the time they noticed him, he was already an accepted member of their clan. Some treat him as a new member; others remember interactions with him from years ago.
Alsvid has the earliest memory of him. She claims to have discovered him as a hatchling, abandoned in some rubble and lugging around a journal almost as big as his body. He didn't talk, she says, and was incredibly nervous and twitchy. She believes she is the one who brought him to the clan, although she doesn't remember how she convinced Autumn to take in the strange Spiral. Additionally, Autumn doesn't remember meeting Hemadri until he was fully grown. In fact, none of their clanmates remember a young Hemadri, save for Alsvid.

Hemadri's father was every bit as forgetful as he is, and even more hyperactive. He lived such a fast-paced life that even the boundaries of time and space couldn't hold him. Udon traveled to the forgotten past and the distant future, keeping a record of his journey as he went. The only thing binding him to any point in time was his wife, who he fathered many children with.
His time travel mutation expressed itself differently in his different children, and hit Hemadri particularly hard. From the moment he hatched, he has been capable of travelling through time like his father, but inherited his mother's inability to control it. Hemadri has always popped in and out of time in a nonsensical fashion, which led to an inability to form a single relationship, even one with his parents.

As a young dragon, Hemadri devoted himself to inventing a device to stabilize his existence. He spent his life in old, archaic libraries, searching for texts with any reference to time travel. His problem was particularly unique: most books only theorized possibilities for travelling in time, with nobody interested in staying in the same place. Hemadri took notes on everything he could, however, and attached the tome to his body so he wouldn't lose it when he spontaneously traveled.
He fell into despair as he got older and started putting his knowledge to the test. No matter how many prototypes he started, he would inevitably travel to another point in time before he could get close to being finished. He quickly gave up entirely, resigning himself to a lifetime of blinking in and out of existence.

Hemadri's negative attitude persisted until he made his first friendship. Briar was quiet, and perhaps as weird as he was, but she didn't mind when he rambled on, caught up in his excitement about getting to talk to someone. She was the first dragon he ever told about his time travel problem, and seemed sympathetic. Although he had to constantly explain it to her as he traveled to different points in her life, it was worth it for the friendship they shared.

Briar was also the first to see his notes on a stabilizer device. When he traveled to a point months in the future, he discovered that she was taking them to the next level and trying to build the device he was unable to.

Several prototypes later, and Hemadri now has something keeping him bound to a point in time. He and Briar wear matching charms on their tails, keeping him at a stable point in time as long as they're both wearing it. For the first time in his life, Hemadri is able to live a normal life and make relationships that both parties will remember.
