 "Come now. You're better than that. That pitiful form will get you killed out there! Soften that tread, or your enemies will find you before you find them." ~ArrowindMain Theme: Needles and Pins - Deftones  Few understand the dragon who calls herself "Arrowind." She speaks the harsh tongue of a dragon raised by 'others,' and has the attitude of one too. Her disdain for the clan's lack of brawn disgusts her at times. She hunts while her clan members rest their weary heads at sunset, and returns at dawn break with bounties appalling: enough to feed the whole clan. She does it infrequently, hunting, for her adoration of nature gives her enough thought to leave it be. But when the hunt is in her blood, mercy is the last thing on her mind.  . Silence is a weapon, to be mastered like any other, and when it demanded that she empty herself of useless, soft things, she did. She commands it with ruthless grace. The wilds of the Grove spare nothing, she knows, and she uses this as a weapon, disappears into the darkness of the savage things that would strangle her if they could. As she watches from the shadows, not even the cold, calculating gleam of her gaze can be seen until the second she strikes, at the right moment, at the right target. She was trained from birth to be a sharp huntress. However, that doesn't mean she has no room in her heart for love. Arrowind originated from a strong wind clan where she was raised and trained. She is a sharp dragon , quick to learn the ways of the huntress. Once her training was up , she was sent to move to another clan. A water clan. This is where she met her mate, Sunblaze. At first, they hated each other. Absolutely hated each other. After all , they both stood for different customs. The way they came together was when he saved her life ; as an Abyss Seeker, he can see the future of one's magic. He saw her blood burn to ash at the hand of the enemy. He knew when it would happen. Sunblaze followed her into the forest when she left to hunt late that night. And so he pushed his weak body from the depths of his den. He followed along as quiet as a mouse. Somehow , she did not hear him come. Her journey through the woods seemed to last for the longest time. That was when he saw it ; the imperial that would take her life. Almost involuntarily, he sprang past her and toppled on top of the significantly larger dragon. The imperial roared , throwing him HARD against a tree. Sunblaze gasped for breath as it was knocked from his lungs. He heaved, pushing himself shakily to his feet. But it was too late. Arrowind pounced on the enemy's back , only for her to be thrown to the ground by her throat in one swift movement. "NO!" Sunblaze screeched as he felt his blood boil out, his lungs cease to function, to drown the only way a water dragon could- in poison, in disease, in the unknown. His heart even stopped, he was so scared, so terrified. Darkness crept in, and out, and in, and faded… But that was merely a vision. He did not know how she got onto the ground, but besides unfocused blue eyes she shimmered with blue water magic. The magic of prophecy. An eerie calmness and rippling blue magic born from being an Abyss Walker settling over her. The water from the creek flowing between them rose up from where it once flowed, snatching the Imperial off of her like it was nothing. He grinned red-and-pink teeth, "I'm not going to be killed by this Abyss Seeker, am i?"He purred. “No. Your magic has many plans for you. Still it calls you to embrace the ways you have given up long ago, and the Plaguebringer calls you home.” Sunblaze relayed darkly. Tendrils of dark water rose up his body, wrapping around his throat. The imperial gasped for breath, choking and chortling as deep black water escaped through his mouth. "You can't kill me."He managed to choke out. Just like that, his breath ceased and his heart stopped. The imperial sank to the ground. Arrowind was backed up against a tree, eyes widened in horror. Seeing such brutality coming from this magick was a shock , even to her. She heard of the Abyss Seekers ; ancient creatures from the First Age. This was the first time she felt a spark of fascination regarding him. "You saved my life.."She murmured. "Why..?" Sunblaze looked towards her , a faint smile crossing his expression. "I was meant to save you."He offered her help up. She hesitated a moment before taking his help and rising to her feet. She and Sunblaze returned to the clan together that morning. From that night on , it seemed as though they were inseparable. This was a strange sight to see for their fellow clan members. Nontheless, with each day , they fell more and more in love. The two decided that they would have their first clutch ; they had three eggs. They excitedly awaited the hatching of their young. But tragedy struck soon. After a long day of scavenging for materials , her mate returned home to show her something strange. He carefully pulled it out --- he was wearing gloves at the time. Little did he know , this was far more than rare metal. It would turn out to be much more sinister for him. He hurried home to show his mate what he had found. Sunblaze set the cloth-wrapped metal down on the table before them and unraveled it. He went to pick it up so he could show her...But when he touched it, that is when the strongest Water magic within him was activated. A large burst of magick energy flashed the very second he touched it, destroying everything and every dragon within a 10 mile radius...Including his beloved Arrowind and their three unborn children. He was the only thing left alive among the smoldering ashes. Everything went black. That's when she awoke again in her home land ; the Windswept Plateau. Not living, but as a wind spirit. This was a shock to her. She remembered what happened and left for the Viridian Labyrinth in search of her mate and her clan. She hoped they were still alive...But they weren't. She found only ash and ruin where her clan once was. Arrowind was devastated. She fled back to the Plateau and found her own residence among the Reedcleft Ascent. She spent many months there living on her own , only leaving her den to hunt for food. That was when visitors came. They decided one day that they would venture to the Windswept Plateau to practice his magic on a higher scale. It was when they arrived at the Reedcliff Ascent hat they noticed something..Strange. Sunblaze could feel the powerful presence of a spirit there, but whom? They made their way through the high pillars until they reached a cave in between two high pillars --- That is where he felt the presence the strongest. "Hello?"Aster's whimsical voice chimed out. However, she was soon greeted by the pounce of a large (for her breed) Wildclaw. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" The sharp voice said. Sunblaze stopped in his tracks the moment that he saw this strong Wildclaw. "Arrowind?"His voice trembled as he spoke. She froze, letting go of the Imperial's throat. Arrowind knew that voice well. The wildclaw looked towards him , astonished. "Sunblaze..?" She murmured. After all of this time , she was here. A wind spirit left to wander the Windswept Plateau. "I came back for you..."She said quietly. She stepped closer to him , studying his features. He had changed lot since she saw him last. It looked like sorrow had taken it's toll on him. "The whole clan was gone...Burned to ashes." Arrowind went on , her voice dripping with sadness. "I thought you were dead, Vulcan.." "I thought you were dead."Sunblaze said with a weak laugh. He pulled his mate close to him in a tight embrace. And so, he and Aster traveled back to their clan with Arrowind. Arrowind made it her duty to hunt and serve the clan that had shown her such kindness. Blood will spill, even if her own must flow first. Her clan will not go hungry, not tonight, not any night that she is on the hunt, for the pack moves with purpose, and once their prey is marked, it will fall. Arrowind does her part, shrouded in darkness, so that another does not have to - and perhaps in the end, that is softness in its most vicious form. |
