Witchdoctors are taught in the ways of healing, divination, and protection against magic. "May the bridges I burn light the way." A go-getter, Valerie climbs the ladder of success. This is a “take charge” dragon, who accepts nothing but respect. Reaching her goal post the most important thing in life to her, and she isn’t bothered by a few ruffled feathers along the way. He has his own pearly necklace, enchanted with swiftness. - Her hoard consists of incense and teas. The effect they have on the mind and body I could see as a source of fascination for her, and she catalogs each one and what it smells like, what it does, and a sketch of it before using it. (@InkyBrush) - Valerie did not like her name, having associated it with her past. When she joined the Lavaburst Clan, she saw this as a new beginning for her and changed her name. - The spinel on Valerie's tail ring was enchanted to begin slowly healing any wounds on her body after four hours. She is making attempts to lessen the amount of time. - She seems to have a weaker grasp on emotions and feelings than most dragons within the clan. - Her mannerisms and turn of phrase are different from the average dragon, being more matter-of-fact, literal, and inexpressive. - Morbid, the clan's other witchdoctor, is the only other dragon within the clan that knows her old name and her past. - If anyone were to refer to her by her old name, she would lash out and become furious at them. She is Valerie, the Lavaburst Clan's happy witchdoctor. She is not Maryanne, a dragon happy to participate in bloody sacrifices to the Lightweaver. - She sometimes travels around Sornieth in an attempt discover new magic, abilities, and enchantments. - Valerie can imbue most objects with magic. Typically when she discovers an especially strong magic, she will extract a weaker version of it and imbue an object with it. - Unlike most Nocturnes, she has two fluffy pink antennae sprouting from her head. Nothing gets past her undetected. - After asking Maeby if she could extract a weaker part of her magic so she could imbue an item with them, she was vehemently denied. Valerie remembers this always when talking to her. (Maeby's magic consists primarily of the manipulation of shadows.) - Her favorite tea is matcha. - Tea guide! Origin Story Valerie- No, Maryanne was raised in a small village near the Sundial Terrace. She was simple then, living by the simple ways of her people. Simply, she sacrificed her clanmates to the Lightweaver. Sacrifices were determined when they were born, based on the colors of their scales, feathers, or fur. Indeed, they selected only hatchlings that were darkly-colored. They, in some way or another, had disgraced the Lightweaver and thus were not blessed by her light, causing this dark coloration. The people of Maryanne's village called it "Sinner's Scales". Maryanne was raised alongside her loving brother and sister, Lester and Frozenbell. Frozenbell had blood-red wings, which were believed to be one of the worst cases of Sinner's Scales. Like every hatchling, they were raised thinking that the sacrifice was commonplace and normal. Truly, it was an honor to die at the brink of adolescence, having learned the Lightweaver's lessons and then to be reborn in her light. As they grew, Maryanne forgot that she would one day lose her sister. After Frozenbell was sacrificed, Maryanne couldn't have felt more alone. She didn't understand her own emotions- Her sister was an impure, her scales deemed her fate. Her death was a good time, she had now been brought closer to the Lightweaver. As much as she told herself this, she couldn't stop missing and quietly grieving her sister. Lester grew distant from their family and ran away. It was assumed that he ran off with a dark-scaled dragon and did not care for the Lightweaver and her purifying light. This confused Maryanne to great amounts. Ainsley, her father, died oddly one day. His wings were all cut up and his blood had stained his wings crimson. The clan believed that this was the Lightweaver's way of marking and exposing him as unholy. Maryanne was alone. With no one she could call family and no desire to stay, Maryanne ran away. Her journey to find a new home was considerably brief, having been taken into Lavaburst City after having been found fainted due to starvation. When she awoke in the Medicine Den, she was fearful. Everything was different and terrifying, there were dragons were dark scales everywhere. She would try to attack anyone that came into her room. That was until she met Belladonna, the priestess at the time. Over time, she taught her of the true nature of the Lightweaver. She taught her that fate was not chosen by one's scales. When they finally asked Maryanne her name, she thought for a moment. Pondered, recalled her mother's name. "Valerie." she told them. Valerie would encounter Morbid, the witchdoctor. Drawn to his strange mannerisms and behavior, she would begin to study the art of being a witchdoctor alongside him. She became adept at her craft, even surpassing Morbid in the specific skills of enchantment and divinity. Additionally, she catalogs its smell, what it does and draws out a sketch of each one. Jasmine Incense - Jasmine has calming properties and can ease depression. Users will have a low level of alertness. It will give a feeling of uplift. Lemongrass Incense - Citrus scents often cause alertness and higher energy, but lemongrass, which has fresh citrus fragrance, eases anxiety and eases stress. Inhaling the incense will give an uplifted and revitalized feeling, and thus give a feeling of self-worth. Good after coming home after long days. Lavender Incense - Best known for relieving stress. It gives a relaxing and calming effect on both the mind and body. Inhaling the scent of lavender can also help you sleep deeply for longer periods of time. Thus it’s also known as a method for alleviating insomnia. Burn a single stick at a time, it's rather powerful. Green Tea - Green tea can improve health, improve brain function, improves physical performance and lowers risks of infections. It can make one feel relaxed and dull depression as well. Drink 2-10 cups a day for maximum effect. Green Tea Alternate - A recipe Valerie learned from Modron after stopping by for tea. It's a standard green tea with candied ginger and peach! Oolong Tea - With drinking oolong tea comes healthy scales and bones. It also protects against diseases, manages stress, and improves mental performance and health. However, it's very high in caffeine. Only drink a few cups a day. Mint Tea - Mint tea can relieve stress, provide more restful sleep, improve concentration, and soothe stomach problems. Matcha - A very effective tea. It contains many antioxidants, detoxifies effectively, is rich in vitamins and prevents disease. It also enhances mood and aids in concentration. 
Valerie's Imbued Items These are objects that Valerie has imbued magic, usually the extremely powerful kind, into. Depending on your current situation, you could actually borrow these from her. Eye of Hypnotism - Anyone who makes eye contact with this purple eye for ten seconds will fall under the power of the owner of the eye until they manually close the eye. Mirror of the Blinded - This mirror is the most strongest when used within the domain of light. If reflecting light from the Beacon of the Radiant Eye when the sun is at its highest, an extremely powerful beam of light will sprout from the mirror. The mirror is capable of scorching holes into wings and even scales. The Necrotic Grasp - This item is a gauntlet utilized to raise the dead from their resting places. Dragons, beastkind... No one is exempt with the exception of Emperor Dragons. The Necrotic Grasp's power was extracted from Vivek, the clan's resident necromancer. Renewing Sprig - This sprig is a very important item of Valerie's. If placed on a wounded dragon, it will begin slowly healing their wounds. The Book of the Forest - A green book in which all pages but the first are blank. On this page is a single line of text: "And so the forest awakens." If read allowed, countless large vines sprout from the book and can be controlled by the reader to strike down foes. The Book of the Forest's power was extracted from Starglider, a dragon with similar vines sprouting from his back.
