★ Hotep's Quarters

His room is full of seashells - a soft breeze from outside sets them swinging on tiny strings, tinkling softly by the open window. There's the faint smell of the sea, as if the ocean isn't far off, though it's at least a day away.

It feels warm like a home should, welcoming, but with the obvious differences, as if it were some distant summer home, on the beachfront. There's a jar not even half full of sand and a few shells, a few tiny, sparkling cerulean gems scattered within, and beside it, a vase of wild grasses, and unfamiliar coastal daisies. The bed is curtained with rope netting, little brightly colored stones woven into it, catching the light in ways you'd never expect. Tied to the bedpost are the real curtains, translucent and beige, and both the duvet and the sheets are a slight off-white.

All of this is paired with pale wooden floors that still aren't fully smooth, the flow of the wood still evident, and the driftwood chair at the desk is much the same way, with pastel cushions fluffed and ready for sitting.

Regardless of the novelty, the room feels like a home.

An expert fisherman, Hotep brings in a haul that is just the right size for each day. This is his net, and he's repaired and untangled it many times since he first wove it together.

Following these little fish usually leads to a great find in terms of collectible seashells, and thus, two for one, a new pet and a shiny collectible. This one is named Steve.

Steve's favorite shell. Unfortunately, it is actively occupied, and has produced many pearls in its life in the aquarium. Surprisingly, this olympia oyster is unnamed.

By all means, if he's going to be collecting seashells, Hotep might as well be putting them to good use. There were a few shells used in making this that Steve was quite sad to lose.

Having lived on the beaches for all of his life, Hotep has taken to collecting seashells. This conch is the largest he's found, and is one of his prized treasures from his home.

He's only seen a select few of these, and has collected one to keep in a separate aquarium from Steve. This one is shiny and silver and looks like an angel. He named it Titan.

Hotep's most favorite snack. These are cultivated not far from the shore of the beach he lived on, probably by a clan. If they've seen him taking some, they certainly don't care.

From time to time, there is a need to defend himself from predators of the ocean, or sea-bound enemies in general. This spear has been handy for that... and spear-fishing.
