Sygard
Clan Leader
Guardian of the Clan Forge
Leader of the Strikeforge Clan

Betrayed ・ Obsessive ・ Blacksmith

The leader of Strikeforge clan. Most of his duties as the clan leader are delegated to his most trusted seconds. He spends the majority of his time at the ancient forge that lies center of the clan's lair. A forge he found when he was much, much younger. A forge his Search led him to and that he uses, and guards, with all of his being.

His lack of any interest in finding a mate and producing an heir to lead the clan when his time expires is often a topic of gossip throughout the clan. Most believe his only true love is the forge. Some whisper tales of his heart being broken in his youth. Some reason Sygard will name an heir, related to him or not, when he grows much older. The pessimistic in the clan claim he won't do even that, and that chaos will befall Strikeforge should anything happen to Sygard before an heir is named.

He is well loved by his clan despite his obsession with the forge and his isolation from them as a whole. This love was earned from the countless times he has risen to aid anyone in need.

An accomplished blacksmith, tales of his work have spread throughout the lands, but his weapons and armor are never sold. If you desire something from Sygard you must pass his trials and earn what you seek.
Clan History

Two friends, partners, traveled the lands until one came upon a large, ancient forge, secretly nestled in a small cavern of obsidian. His Search came to an end and he knew this was where he was meant to stay.

The other was less inclined to stay, but did. For a time. Bitterly held feelings turned into rage over the years while a clan built itself around the pair. Eventually the dam burst, and the latter friend retaliated in a mutinous fury, attacking the forge with decades long resentment.

They fought each other, one fueled by bubbling hurt turned hate, the other with confusion but a desire to protect that which his Search had led him to.

The betrayer fled, taking most of the clan with them, and holding onto life with stubborn rage. Having been bested by the strength of a blacksmith--and a Guardian protecting his charge.

The forge's keeper and protector had succeeded in guarding his charge, but it was not without damages. His own wounds forgotten, he worked at rebuilding the forge. A scattered few who had been placed their loyalty with the forge Guardian remained.

The Strikeforge Clan arose from the ashes of this schism between friends. And despite its leader burying himself in his trade as a Blacksmith, in his role as the Forge's protector, the clan steadily grew from the efforts of his trusted friends, and newly appointed Second-in-Commands.
Rafael's Journal Entry on Sygard wrote:
This Guardian is massive and intimidating because of it, and just the way he speaks and carries himself. He's got scars. He's seen combat; it's obvious. I really wouldn't want to be his enemy. Just about everyone in Strikeforge respects him, deeply, and just by him being himself. Even when I first met him I found myself overtaken by his presence and immediately keen on giving him respect. It's hard to put it into words. He just has that aura about him.

Rafael's Journal - Sygard Part 2 wrote:
The way the females of this clan chatter on about his heirlessness is almost nerve grinding. Thankfully, I find it more amusing than anything. If they're not throwing themselves in his path for recognition, they're gossiping about his tastes in a mate, his past, or anything else.

Rafael's Journal - Sygard Part 3 wrote:
A strange water egg found its way to Strikeforge and Sygard keeps it in a bucket of water near the forge. He refills the bucket daily and keeps watch over the egg. It doesn't hatch and Mariqa keeps trying to tell him it's dead, but he won't listen. There's a tenderness to his eyes and the way in which he diligently cares for it. If it wasn't common knowledge that his Search was the great forge, I'd almost say the egg is.
