 The reason Candace wanted to build her own lair is unknown, as she will snap at anyone who asks. Her personality his harsh and unforgiving, and shows of affection are very rare. She says they are unecesarry, even when it comes to her own children.

She does what she likes, and she mates with whom she pleases. But there is a special place in her stone-heart for Abner, He will always be closest to her, as he came to her during the building of the lair, which was unbenounced to anyone else a very emotionally turbulent time for her.

Her goal is a new life, with new companions. Though she is very uncomfortable without any of her own kind, she has high hopes in her hatchlings. With Abner by her side she wants to build a safe home where she can rule.
Though dragons often theorize that her goal is to build a family, the matriarch will deny this outright. Maybe even agressively.
