Marron

When Sutera was young, she heard the story of the wandering dragon who killed whomever he was told to, but only did so because he wanted to take his mind off of the fact he was lonely. This was a standard CentalStarWave story, that was supposedly true, but it was supposed to teach hatchlings that although killing can get you money, it will never make you feel any better about yourself. Now this story wouldn't have been much of a problem, if it weren't for Sutera's bright imagination.

Sutera knew that poor Groona was lonely after her mate left and so, Sutera decided this dragon she had heard so many stories of wold be perfect. He could stop killing and they could both stop being lonely. She left in search of him, and here is where Marron enters.

Marron never wanted the life that came to him. He was a normal dragon for a long time, living in Light territory, with his young mate, Chela. What poor Marron didn't know was that Chela was deathly ill. Soon after creating a home with her, she died. Grief stricken and crazy, Marron discovered something he didn't know before. With the snap of his claws, things would spontaneously combust.

With his new found power Marron found himself a place in the world as an assassin for hire. News spread quickly of the dragon that could light anything aflame, and he became a legend. Every dragon who needed someone killed had him as number one on their list for assassins. Marron soon found himself rich as can be, and growing famous quickly. And yet he wasn't happy, but still lonely, and so he began to kill more to clear his mind.

Soon Marron's fame took a turn for the worst though, when the families of his victims began to retaliate, chasing him down and making his job much harder, and also making it much harder not to become a flat out murderer and killing all of them. He moved and hid out on a remote island, in the Sea Of A Thousand Currents. It was here that the young and frantic Tundra found him.

Sutera begged the unsure Guardian to come with her. She told him of a safe place where he would be accepted and more importantly, loved. Marron was quite unnerved by the Tundra and yet intrigued. The dragon had left her own home and somehow found him, just to help him? Marron couldn't resist the thought of a safe place he could call home. And so he agreed to come along.

When Sutera arrived with Marron, nobody was more surprised than Groona. She had been told of her good friends expedition to find Groona a mate, but she didn't think she would succeed! Marron was even more surprised. Not only was there a beautiful camp, but also the most beautiful dragon he'd ever seen, both sitting ahead of him.

Soon enough a celebration was held as Groona and Marron became mates. There was cheering and singing, Marron had never truly felt this welcomed. Groona and her family, were his family now and Marron felt, for what he thought was the first time in his life, accepted. He had children that were traveling the world and a clan that accepted him. Things only really began to change when he was chosen to train Evenus.

He found himself struggling to keep up with the young Pearlcatcher. And he really didn't know how to deal with him most of the time. Having similar powers, definitely did not mean having similar personalities. Eventually Evenus snuck away to start his own life in a new cave. Though Evenus still visits and goes ton family gatherings, Marron has found his life increasingly less stressful without the young dragon in it.
