Verity
Verity has always been, and always will be, a free spirit. Her desire to see the world was far larger than her heart could take, and she set off to see the world as quickly as she could fly. Over her travels, she met with all breeds and natures of dragon, claiming a small souvenier from each. She even went so far as to purchase an entire boat to help her navigate the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Her heart was moved by every land; as much as she was chilled by the Icefield, she was warmed by its inhabitants. As much as she revelled in the natural life of the Viridian Labyrinth, she was awed by the decay of the Scarred Wasteland. It almost pained her heart to see the lands so far apart, bickering over territory with no common ground, no shared sanctuary for the unaffiliated to stay... then it hit her. Her boat could be that sanctuary. But it would need some work. Her journey started anew, this time fuelled with a blazing determination. She repurposed her souveniers, turning them into materials to enlarge her ship and to create a blimp. She persuaded dragons of all flights to come together and help put them together. Scraps of material bearing the sigils and colours of all the flights came together to form an oversized balloon, a blimp to lift the newly christened Barter Boat off of the Sea and into the air, for all to share and revel in. Dragons of the Earth flight became responsible for the repairs and supplying of the Barter Boat. Those of the Arcane flight used their extensive knowledge to guide the airship from destination to exotic destination. Those of the Water flight used their predictions to aid the ship through storms, while those of the Lightning flight ensured the Boat was up to standard and capable of ignoring even the mightiest bolt. Those of the Fire flight aided them, rending their metals into unusual shapes to repair the hull and halls of the Boat. Those of the Ice flight gathered interesting oddities for the merchants to sell, and used their powers to help all dragons resist the cold. Dragons of the Shadow flight ensured the books were properly balanced with their knowledge of handling secrets, while those of the Light aided the Boat through the darkest of skies. Even dragons of the Nature and Plague flights had their home, with Nature dragons finding and growing ample food for the residents and the Plague dragons ensuring those who fell ill would survive and not spread their affliction. Dragons of Verity's flight, Wind, were able to use their magic to guide the bulky ship through the skies as elegantly as their own flight. All flights were represented by the reason they stayed afloat, the patchwork of a blimp glimmering proudly with every colour. Now the captain of this proud vessel, Verity takes her role seriously and acts as head organiser, mediator for any troubles that arise, guide and carer for younger dragons unused to the Barter Boat, and overall lovely lady. However, her serious nature tends to be lead astray; her sensitivity to the tales of others has not lessened with her exposure to them, and she often finds herself in unusual situations just by wanting to take part in an exciting story. Her hardworking nature and care for her friends has always seen her true, though, and she's determined to not let that change now. Written by MadmanMario |
