Tiresias was born in a far distant land. He began his young life in a cavern of translucent crystals, with the priests and augers of a strange and half-forgotten religion of no name. Left as an offering by local worshippers, Tiresias knew only the stale, damp air filling his lungs, the echoing drops of moisture dripping down the rough walls, the cold howls of the distant wind, for the early moons of his life.

Tiresias was taught the subtle arts of magic and divinity. His quiet poise and insight was exceptional, and his aptitude allowed him to understand the messages of the Old Gods uncommonly well.

He was the sole apprentice allowed to peruse the highly secretive craft of crystal-divinity. However, Tiresias was too curious and too bold in his youth, and gazed into the crystals for too long. These crystals, infused with the most ancient and primal magic, passed the ability of foresight onto Tiresias. Such a gift was considered to be to privileged for a simple hatchling apprentice and, filled with rage and vindictiveness, the priests of the religion sought payment. Whilst they could not remove the gift from Tiresias, they could take something else. In the dead of night, the priests took a sacrificial knife and blinded Tiresias.

Tiresias, young and alone, terrified by the pain and the fragmented visions of the future, stumbled out of the cavern.
He felt the fresh air on his scales.
He felt the sun's rays on his back.
He felt alive.

Guided by his sense of smell and the panic pulsing through his veins, he found his way to what he felt would be a safe place- the isolated cliffs of the Sunbeam Ruins. Here, he was found by Fernweh, who guided the shaking, blood-stained hatching back to the clan he now calls home.
Tiresias then spent a great many moons becoming accustomed to his lack of sight. Living much of his young life in caverns, illuminated only by the dim, fleeting glow of crystals, meant that he became used to it faster than another dragon would have, but the transition was still a shock to him. Now he is fully independent, using his sense of hearing and smell to paint a picture of the world - his sense of smell is as good as any tundra's, perhaps better.

Tiresias is a gentle and softly-spoken soul. Although he is quiet and shy, he is always there to provide comforting words and kind advice. He uses his gifts for more simple and heartwarming deeds now - advising nesting parents on the likely breeds of their offspring, for example.
His visions are still present, but far more controllable and less harrowing. The future, for now, is looking bright for Tiresias and the clan.
