Biography
"So, you're the newest warrior that has the clan riled up."
Ryder shifted in his seat uncomfortably. His eyes flitted back and forth, darting across the room and staring at every place but one. When he did bring his eyes to the dragon before him, he would quickly look away in impromptu embarrassment.
"That's no easy task. I feel I must applaud you for such a feat-- in a clan of experienced fighters, it must take some skill to stand out, especially as a newcomer."
Ryder knew that, on surface level, he should feel honored. Such high praise, most would regard the words as. Yet there was no stopping the intimidated shiver that threatened to shake his spine every time she spoke. Her eyes were hidden behind the darkened purple cover that shrouded her face, useless, and yet he felt as if she were staring right at him and piercing his very soul.
"Strong and fast, no doubt. Perhaps a bit squishy, but that's nothing that can't be fixed with a bit of armor."
Ryder winced at the word "squishy". It was drawn out in a hiss, tongue flicking and head extending slightly forward as if in disdain. For the life of him, Ryder could not read the tone of the blind queen's words. Well, perhaps she was no longer a queen in role-- the dragons of the clan had done well to inform him of her past as a feared and mighty ruler-- but everything about her screamed "leader". Her calm and even tone and expression, the faint lines upon her skin and scratch in her voice that showed both could just as easily contort to anger and rage, fly into a fit of righteous fury and enact painful justice upon her enemies. Muscles shifted beneath her snow white cloak, and her claws were sharper than daggers. Her teeth clicked together, and Ryder winced.
The Fae upon Specter's shoulder snickered, the wolf at her side panted in a silent laugh. Both good friends to the queen, so Ryder had heard, and both functioning as a sort of guide to the blind dragon. The Fae was no easier to read, features expressionless as was common with the species. While some did practice expressions to make communication with others easier, this Fae had no reason to do so. What was the need for a smile when your closest friend could not see?
