A shipwreck is no longer as mysterious as it used to be.
Lost at sea. A thousand leagues below. Timber bones lying broken upon shoals, or sunk listless in the dark.
The mystique has worn off. The depths are not as revered, the looming threat of dark, churning waters below you now little more than an afterthought.
The deep, the drowned, they have dulled as eyes have combed even the darkest recesses of the depths. These are no longer coins which keep their luster. We lament.
And so too has the threat of becoming lost to the fathoms lost its terror.
