Malia
wish peddler
Malia is only summoned when the clan is desperate. She can grant wishes and requests, but the prices are often, aka always, extremely high and the results are usually, again, always, not exactly what the wisher wanted or intended, unless they're very specific and detailed in their request. Even then though, it's still never certain. This often causes her customers to get angry with her, despite the fact that she always warns them of what their getting into beforehand. She often wonders if her powers are even able to help others, though there are always those who think her abilities are just awesome. ("So you're like a genie?" "No, I'm not." "But you- okay, sorry!") Her relationship with her leaders is a bit strained. The guardians do care about her, but the tundra's powers make them a bit...nervous. They both know what can happen when a magic user becomes angry and Malia is easily angered. However, they know how valuable Malia's talents can be. They still hate using them though, due to their unpredictability. Malia does as well, but she'd never tell anyone that. At least not willingly. |
Her appearance is easily the scariest thing about her, with those dark colors and frightening markings, but Malia can be nice. She's just not very good at showing that fact. She's somewhat disengaged from the clan; she doesn't interact with most of them on a daily basis unless they're coming to her for a request, which is very rare, though Thore and Impa like to try and see if they can weasel in a simple, fun request from time to time. This baffles the tundra, since she's not exactly friendly and she doesn't really talk to the duo much. She finds them too energetic and loud. Malia mostly hangs out with the other tundras in the clan, because she's more comfortable around her own kind than the others. Pleo is a blessing and her guiding light while Raion is like the little brother she would never admit she wanted. That's not to say that Malia doesn't like the other members of the clan, it's just harder for her to communicate with them. ("Hey, Malia, you know where-" "No." "-Dak is- you didn't even let me finish!") Malia tells it like it is, often dropping truth on those she feels need to hear it, but she can be gentle. It's just usually only Pleo and Raion who get to see that side of her. She's gotten a little better about being social and kind to anyone that isn't her fellow tundras, but she's still not all that great at it. She's trying though, so her leaders are just glad that she's made the effort. |
When she's not granting wishes or Ferrilata hasn't dragged her to the bazaar to "help her with business," she likes to watch everyone go about their days. While she isn't very good socially, she still finds everyone else's behaviors fascinating. It's amazing, she thinks, how much you can talk and hang out with someone almost everyday and yet know little to nothing about them. There are those who she knows almost too much about, just by observing them and hearing passing conversations but there are many who she knows next to nothing about them and she's admittedly curious. It's not like she actively stalks anyone, unlike a certain bogsneak, she just overhears things and sees things that others don't. She hates that Bardran gives those like her, who actually are interested in other's personality and actions, not just looks, a bad name. If it weren't for Ausha's mercy, she would have ran that stupid slime ball off ages ago. She tends to help keep a close eye on him, a request from her leaders, mostly because the pervert is terrified of her. Which is good, in her opinion. He should be. If anyone should be afraid of her, it's him. |
