Soft and kind despite her spiky appearance, Kress acts as one of the clan healers, assisting Pleo and Dak when needed. She still views herself as somewhat of an apprentice, even though both Dak and Pleo have told her that she is a full fledged healer in her own right. Her method of healing is her earth magic, a technique she picked up before she joined the clan.

- Hatchling Biography -

Kress was born in the Shattered Plains where her nomadic clan roamed. She was a curious little thing with too much energy for her own good, which often frustrated her strict parents, but they treated her well and she loved them dearly.

She often played with her best friend, Mara, their mothers’ joking that they were attached at the hip. It was an accurate description, the two were very rarely ever apart from each other.

It worried their mothers some, that they would become too dependent on each other, but Mara and Kress didn’t understand the problem. They always thought you were supposed to play with your friends, that way you weren’t lonely and that was something neither of them wanted.

- Adolescent Biography -

As Kress grew, she followed in her parents’ footsteps and became a warrior. She was a fast learner, and though she never considered herself one of the best, her abilities were at least above average, in her humble opinion.

Kress and Mara started training around the same time and the two slowly grew into feared warriors. The duo grew even closer during their years of training and as they aged, they gained themselves quite a reputation as being one of the more dynamic duos on the battlefield.

Mara reveled in the glory of battle and while Kress was a skilled warrior, she did not enjoy fighting as much as Mara did. Though she did tend to enjoy their sparring sessions, but that’s different from slicing an enemy into pieces with a bloody sword.

Kress began to have nightmares of her battles, but she kept them to herself, fearing that Mara or her parents wouldn’t understand.

- Adult Biography -

As time passed and the clan’s matriarch, who had no offspring of her own, grew old and weak, two dragons rose to claim the position. Each gained their own followers and disciples and for a time, it was just two small groups bickering over who should take over as the clan’s new matriarch. However, things soon spiraled out of control and suddenly there were separate factions, battling it out for their chosen successors.

Kress never would have dreamed of this happening, it had been so sudden, and it was only made worse when she discovered that she was in a separate faction than Mara and her father. However, the reality of her situation spurred her into action. She became one of the leaders of her faction, helping turn the tide of battle over and over again and hold the front lines when needed.

She became a pillar of strength for her fellow warriors and while Kress was a mess over Mara and her father, she still persevered. Kress did her best to avoid directly confronting them for as long as she could, but it was inevitable that she would soon face them.

The warring factions clashed in what would be the last battle and Mara sought Kress out. While Kress tried to reason with her, Mara did not want to talk, so the two fought in a bloody battle that ended with Kress as the victor and her once best friend dead at her feet.

With the rest of the battles dying out, Kress glanced around blankly and learned with no joy in her heart that her side had won. There were too many bodies, too many lives lost for it to be a victory. What a joke.

Kress later learned that her father had been killed days before the final conflict and that her mother did not survive either.

Kress and her fellow leaders appointed the new matriarch and established a council, but with all the grief and death, it was only a matter of time before Kress left, her many scars and heart burning with guilt.

She traveled on her own before she came upon a clan of earth healers that taught her everything they knew about healing. Deciding that she would heal and nurture life instead of take it, Kress abandoned her role as a warrior and became a healer, though she still wears pieces of her armor in remembrance of her past and family.

Kress came to the clan via healing Thore after a nasty run in with a group of serthis. Insisting that she repay her, the spiral brought her back to Ausha and Dak to tell them of her kindness and to properly thank her.

In thanks, Dak told her that she was welcome to stay and that he and Pleo could always use more helping hands. Deciding that she didn't really want to keep traveling and that she wouldn't mind staying, Kress took him up on his offer. She now resides within the lair and helps with healing and anything else Dak and Pleo might need. Though instead of using medicines or herbal remedies, she uses magic.

She is of earth and while all the different breeds were created by different gods with different elements, they all have a little bit of earth in them.

No matter what flight you are from, earth is present in all of us, her shaman teachers always told her. Though some of her new clan members enjoy challenging that philosophy.

Despite her fierce upbringing, Kress is a caretaker through and through. She can often be seen helping others if she feels like she is adequately certified to help with whatever issues that dragon may be dealing with. She loves hatchlings and young dragons, though she is aware that she is quite frightening with her spikes and sharp face.

She loves the nights where the whole clan is gathered together to tell stories and enjoy each other's company, finding comfort in the new bonds she’s foraged with dragons that are similar and yet so different from herself.

The memory of her birth clan and family still hurts and she doubts that will ever go away, but having friends and others she can rely on makes things easier and helps to dull the pain.

- Additional Notes -

➤ Kress no longer considers herself a warrior, but she still trains and spars, mostly to relieve stress.

➤ Kress’ worst scar is a jagged spiral that wraps around her neck, a scar she gained from her battle with Mara and her fierce whip.
