- when he joined virulent it's not like any clan was big enough to have a pediatrician ward, so he wound up being a midwife too right
- but down the line liutra made virulent the number one patchstitch monster health resort
- and him trying to figure out how to deal with an increasing amount of increasingly messed up dragons really started grating on him
- and then
- since theres no precedent for this he has a hard time reading what's wrong with the barely-stabilzed hatchlings he gets dumped on him afterwards

- hates the researcher aspect that liutra applies on her patients

- PLUS the corpse-eater situation which he hates having been born in the order so he knows how unnecessary and destructive they are

- so when liutra and krova started fighting over the patchstitch program, he was annoyed already, and then there was a sudden baby boom in the caverns
- which included two (2) patchstitch litters AND the berengaria redmane cadet polycole bringing home a. living mass of contagion that had to be shoved into a suit
- and some very important political families having kids which he couldn't show his exhaustion
- and also his half-brother having a clutch and family crisis (even if he doesnt really talk to his siblings)

- she's not busy rn because she dips whenever cain's busy with a family crisis so prime time for xapham to just sidle on in there
- daliatycia and iltisoti like their great/grandpa and also diathiras keeps floating in and out so she's not gonna beef in front of them and also mokalaosa did have her 'calm down' arc so she doesnt care as much

Xapham never really left the nesting grounds.

From a young age it was obvious that he liked hatchlings better than he likes adult dragons. He would leave, yes, but he'd always come back the the nesting grounds to play with the hatchlings and tell them stories.

Nothing his parents did gained any of his interest. Though he was sharp as a whip and good with his hands, research didn't suit him, and he thought his mother pathetic for letter her life be ruled by visions. In his youth, Xapham took to reckless behavior to try and figure out what he wanted to do. He ran with the Mirrors, tried the sword, and that led him to spending a lot of his time in the healing den.

There is where he found his calling. He didn't want to treat adults though, oh no. Xapham specialized in hatchling care, and he was good at it. Hellreek was healers, though, and while his talent was large he did not want to stay there. He got too many looks when his voice changed to soft as he spoke to the hatchlings.

To his patients, Xapham is gentle, kind, and warm. He always knows the exact thing to say to calm them down. He is always stopping in to see how they are doing, and in the worst cases spends his nights at their bedside to make sure they are safe.

Towards other dragons, however, Xapham is just on the short side of downright mean.

He is blunt and to the point, even if the point is too sharp to handle. He ignores them, gives them the cold shoulder, and is just generally unpleasant. His transition from doctor Xepham to public Xepham is as quick as the snap of the fingers, and he often leaves dragons confused or thinking something is horribly wrong with him.

Nothing is, he just doesn't like other dragons.

Despite this, he is a master at what he does. Even with his horrid personality, dragons from all over Sorineth track him down to treat their children. He is smart, wise, and knowledgeable, and will stop at nothing to find the cure to any ailment. He knows of his intelligence, however, and it helps feed the part of him that holds itself high above everyone else.
